Hi I'm Russ

I'm a husband and father, I travel the world and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the South of England and studied at University on the South coast. I served my Mission for the Church in North East England and my home is now in the Midlands with by beautiful wife and wonderful son. I'm fortunate to have a job which enables me to travel the world and see many amazing places, but there's nowhere quite like home and I'm proud to be British.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I never had an interest in religion. My family wasn't particularly religious so going to church never featured in my life. When I went to school and college I became good friends with some guys I later discovered were Mormons. When I left for University, they went on their Missions to different parts of the world and for a while we lost contact. When I finished University I came home and naturally gravitated back to them as positive influences in my life. They started inviting me to social events and classes at Church and, after initial hesitation and reluctance, I agreed to meet with the missionaries to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The things the missionaries taught really resonated with questions I had about life and with beliefs that I never knew I held. Six short weeks later I was baptised a member of the Church by one of my best friends. Since then I have served a Mission, held various callings in the church, and have married the girl of my dreams in the Temple. Looking back now I can see how my life has been blessed by the gospel and how all that I now hold dear in life has come as a result of obedience to the commandments of God.

How I live my faith

One of the things that struck a chord with me when I was baptised was that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints recognise that there is a living prophet of God. I had always wondered why if God loved mankind He didn't have people like the Prophets of old on the Earth today. The knowledge I now have of living Prophets and Apostles has driven my love for the words of those men called of God. My favorite times of the year are when I get to sit down with my family and listen to the Prophet and Apostles speak at General Conference. I have always been terrible at recalling verses and stories from the scriptures, but with the words of the Prophets and Apostles I somehow manage to recall the things they have spoken of. Because of that I feel that I am able to live a life directed by the things that God would have me know and do.
