Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Georgia. Wife and mother of two. We are currently living in the Nederlands. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of two kids who keep me busy everyday! Times have been REALLY rough with these kiddos. I work hard to keep in mind they are never going to be this little again. Let things go. Cherish them and laugh with them. When I do, my love for them grows even stronger and I become the mother I always wanted to be.. : ) I met my husband 10 years ago at a BBQ restaurant we both worked at. We have been married now for 5 1/2 years and it has been quite an adventure! So much in fact, we are currently living in the Nederlands! It has been my dream to travel! I thought when I started having kids I would not be able to go. I have been blessed now to share it with the ones who matter most to me. I strive to do what is best for me, husband and my kids. They are my foundation. My little haven. Everyday I am reminded of how blessed I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. Why have I stayed? Well, I know it is true. I have had trials one after another. It was the one place I felt any love, joy and peace from those hard times. Especially, when I was reading my scriptures and saying my prayers. So why would I leave a place that has brought me so much comfort? To this day I feel it has been a HUGE blessing I have stayed in the church. Where would I be? I would not have my husband and my kids. I would not be having this great experience in the Nederlands. I have grown so much from my hardships. I see the spiritual potential I have and strive to gain it. I know the Lord loves me. I see the his love everyday by the way he blesses me and my family and those around me.

How I live my faith

I work with the children in the Wassenaar Branch in the Nederlands as a counselor to the president of the children. With her, we look at each child's needs and interests to be able to relate to them so they feel the love of the Savior. So we can love them as Christ does. These kids have such amazing spirits. Wanting so much to be helpful in anyway they can. They are also a very happy bunch. Considering they live in a different country. New school. New language. New everything. They are a great example to me. I also lead the music in sacrament meeting. Unlike my fellow friends, I love standing in front of the congregation and hearing them sing the hymns. I feel their testimonies as they sing praises to the Lord. The spirit can get really strong and my testimony grows stronger knowing my Savior lives!
