Hi I'm Courtney

I am a lover of adventure. A nursing student. A current full-time missionary in Argentina. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been in the process of attending college to get a degree in nursing, but I have put that all on hold to serve as a full-time missionary in Argentina. My family is THE most important thing in my life, and thanks to them, pure chaos is when I'm the most comfortable. I love to stay active. Volleyball and running are my go-to sports. I love to travel, camping, boating, hiking, and basically anything that involves being outdoors as much as possible. ADVENTURE is the word I would use to describe myself, my life, and the things I hope for in the future!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout my life I've had many opportunities to build on my knowledge and testimony of this amazing gospel, and I can't imagine my life without it. I am a Mormon because I want to be good, I want to do good, and I want to make a difference in the world. And I know that I can´t do it on my own. Something I´ve learned over the years, and that I have come to love and appreciate most about this gospel, is the opportunity it allows us to change. The whole purpose of this life, of our existence, is to change from how we were, how we are, and try each day to become more like Christ. Which can often seem like a pretty big task. And we can´t do it alone. No one understands that better than our loving Heavenly Father. Which is why He has provided us with the perfect way, the only way to be able to find success in that endeavor. This gospel, the teachings of Christ, and the power of His Atonement allow us to change from bad to good, good to better, and to ultimately change our very natures to be more like Him. Being Mormon is so much more than just a religion, or a belief -- It´s a way of life. It brings a light, a direction, and a purpose to all that I do. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and is so aware of every happiness, hardship, trial and success in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that through his Atonement, He provided a way for me to overcome my weaknesses, shortcomings, and the inevitable struggles; and with that gives me the hope of one day returning to live with Him again. I will be forever grateful for His sacrifice for each of us. It brings me so much peace to know that no matter how hopeless or alone I feel, there is always someone I can turn to who understands perfectly what I am going through, and what I need to follow in His footsteps.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by seeking for opporunities to serve others. I'm a firm believer that service opens doors, and is such a powerful tool in establishing love and friendship. I've been a member of several service committees, both in my ward and at school, and recently spent a summer doing humanitarian work in the Philippines. An experience that changed my life and ultimately inspired me to serve a mission. My experiences helped me realize how service can unify people in spite of differences in culture and belief. I learned that love and sincerity overcome all barriers, and that there is an incredible power in something as simple as a smile.
