Hi I'm Aaron

I am from upstate New York. I have been married for 22 years and have 2 children. I have been in sales since the mid 90's.

About Me

I grew up upstate, New York. I studied art and music in high school, playing trumpet up through High School and into college. I went to college for Marketing and Computer Science. My wife is from TX. I am a father of two children, a boy and a girl 10 and 12. I sell multi-million dollar software projects to insurance companies for work, and have been selling insurance related software for 18 years. I travel 5-10 days/month for work. I enjoy camping with my family for vacation, and gardening in the evenings and weekends during the spring and summer....we have a large 600 sq. foot garden in which we grow everything. This has provided a great opportunity for me to teach my children the value of work. I also play cello, trumpet, and piano to relax. I enjoy wood working, ATVing on desert sand dunes, archery, shooting guns, and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I found out for myself through prayer and the feelings of the Holy Ghost that the teachings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ are true. I had been told about Joseph Smith being called as a prophet of God, how both God and Jesus Christ had appeared to him. I was told about how he was commanded by God to restore the Church of Christ upon the face of the Earth, and how angels had appeared to him and laid hands upon his head restoring priesthood authority again, and how he was given the power to do the same works of the ancient apostles such as healing the sick, raising the dead, etc. These stories seemed to make sense and be consistent with the teachings of the Bible. I had also been told about the Book of Mormon being another testament of Jesus Christ's life, like the Bible, only whereas the Bible was a history of God's relationship with the Jews in Jerusalem, the Book of Mormon was the history of the Jews on the American Continent from 600 BC to 400 AD. I had been told that this book was physical tangible proof that God was not retired and still spoke to men on the Earth like in ancient days. However, having been taught all of these things, I needed to find out for myself that they were true. So I knelt in prayer, humbly praying to God to know if what I had been taught was true. My prayers were answered by a strong feeling of fire in my chest that was unmistakable. I asked if God were there, if Jesus was the Son of God, if Joseph Smith was a Prophet and if the Book of Mormon was another Book of Scripture. I learned that this was the feeling of the Holy Ghost, and that I can use that feeling to help me recognize truth. I also have learned that this is God's way of communicating with me. When I have questions, and need guidance, when I receive that same feeling I know that God is revealing His will to me. This ability to communicate with God and get answers to my prayers has been a great blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I have had many volunteer positions in the church over the last two decades. I served as a missionary in Scotland for 2 years starting when I was 19, which was a wonderful experience. It was a great joy having the opportunity to share the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ since then through to the present. The message of the gospel brings peace, hope, and love into peoples lives, creating a desire to do good and to serve others. Seeing people change their lives to become better people, learn to serve others, answering their questions about the purpose to this life, where we go after we die, and what God expects of us has been one of the greatest joys I have ever experienced. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has provided a real brother-hood for me and my family, and has been an extension of my family. Every city my wife and children and I have lived in we have had instant friends through the Church. We have been able to serve in many volunteer capacities over the years, including: teaching a Sunday School class for 8-9 year olds, teaching a class for people investigating the church, serving in a counsel of 15 other men to oversee the affairs of 7 different congregations. We have also been able to participate in many charitable functions including storm clean up, canning food for the poor and needy, helping with gardens, teaching self reliance, and the list goes on. The Church teaches to put family above all else, how to be a good father and a better husband. I have learned correct principles to help me prioritize my time between family, work, and church service. Through the teachings of modern day prophets I have learned important principles of self reliance, management of finances, production of food for my family, camping skills, and many other things. The Church encourages us to make Christ the center of our home. We have done this by praying at meals and at night as a family and reading scriptures together each night.
