Hi I'm Dade Duncan

I've grown up in Oregon; and accordingly I love the rain. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have deep passion for writing. Writing in my journal, writing stories, letters, notes- secretly narrating my own life in my head. When I get back from my mission, I'll be going to college to get my four years in English. I enjoy photography, art, running, hiking, biking, martial arts, and anything outdoors. I love the rain, the country side, and animals. When I was a kid I dreamed of becoming a vet, and while I still love animals and science is oh so interesting- it's not my forte. I also love to dance: all sorts! Ballroom, country, swing, under the stars- and even in my room (and singing) when no one is looking.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon my whole life and I love it. I've had many times in my life where I've questioned my sanity, but my parents did a very good job at teaching me how to receive answers for myself. I was just sort of gliding through life until I decided to take my education from public high school to private home school in my sophomore year. That's where I met Risa, this happy girl who loved everyone and everyone loved her. We clicked so easily, and she taught me how to love life and love God- and why God's Plan for all of us was so exciting. When she died three years later it really tried my faith... I knew God lived, I could never deny that, but it's one thing to say something, and another thing to live it, live like you believe no matter how hard or sad you are. I've realized life doesn't get any easier, but it does get a lot better. God has a Plan for us. We were people even before we came to earth, and we were presented with two plans. One was Satan's plan, he promised that we would all return to Heaven no matter what, but it would cost us our agency, or ability to choose. Jesus Christ presented a plan that gave God all the glory, and our agency, and still a way to return to Heaven. Not everyone followed Christ and will never get a body, but if you're reading this- YOU chose God's plan. And what's better- is that there's life after earth! I will see Risa again. The key to this plan is Christ, because of His life on earth, we can return to God, and I want everyone to have the opportunity to hear the good news. That's why I'm Mormon, because I know He lives. That's why I'm going to serve a mission, because I want everyone to partake of this happiness!

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday, our service is three hours long. It seems long, but it ends up going very fast. The first hour we take the sacrament and turn our thoughts to Christ and the Atonement- his life. The second hour is Sunday School, we delve into the scriptures and study them. The third hour we gather as men and women separately and study our individual worth, and the worth of others- how we can grow closer to God and those in our congregation, and community. While Sunday is our day of worship, when we rest from work, avoid shopping, going out to eat, spending money, or play- my worship extends through my whole life. I'm not perfect at it, but I try to read my scriptures every day and write in my journal the things I learn. I pray on my own and with my family, communicating to God; thanking him and asking him for blessings...Or just talking to Him. I pay ten percent of all my earnings to a fund called tithing, to help others and the progressing of God's work. Right now I'm a missionary for my congregation. Every Wednesday I meet with others and we call new members in our congregation or ones we haven't seen in a while to see if we can do anything.
