Hi I'm Elder Howard

I am a full time missionary for La Iglesia de JesuCristo!! Headed to Portland Oregon, while I wait for my Visa to Areguipa, Peru!

About Me

My name means "from Ash Tree town" i don't know where there is but I do know I'm actually from Texas. If you go further back I guess you could say I'm English/Irish/Dutch (the Irish side of me was proven in my tap dancing back when I was 5 or so). I wish I could say I had a jiggy pair of feet but in my efforts to take dance classes/hiphop/break-dancing i'm a little slow to learn the step, but I still have fun learning. I love playing the drums and I've been at it for about 3 or 4 years now. I have tried piano and I am sure that drummers have way more fun than pianists! I was able to put in a couple of semesters at college before my mission, I made alot of good friends and I didn't do too bad in my studies either. I want to be a surgeon one day, I have an interest in people, health, and I like bones (they make my mouth water like a dog). I have two puppies; I call them that but one is 11 and I'm pretty sure she could kick the bucket any time now. I love basketball and anything active. For those basketball fans out there... please know that the Spurs are best (spent at least half my life in SanAntonio, I am a very loyal fan). I am officially a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints! I am called to Peru and I am just waiting for my Visa while I teach in Portland Oregon! Can´t wait to try my first guinea pig!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of this church because I 100 percent believe it is true, the is no doubt in my heart, there is no doubt in my mind. One day I want to see my Savior again, I want to see my family again, I want to come back to my Father in Heaven. I know that by being baptized as Christ was I am following his example, and I know that nobody is perfect but I know that by being baptized my sins were washed away, and I know that after baptism I can repent because Christ suffered and paid for my sins. He paid for all of them, not some, or part and I know I must work to be worthy of that price he paid, to be worthy to be in his presence. The Book of Mormon is a Testament of Jesus as is the Bible, and I know the Book of Mormon is true, the people are real, the stories are real, the teachings are real and true. The gospel is a living gospel, it takes action. I can only try to base my actions off the Saviors, to strive to be like Him, and to lead a good example to all those who know me and even those strangers that see me across the street. One day every tongue will confess that Jesus is the Christ and every knee will bow in His presence. I am grateful for the plan that was made so that I can return back to Heaven. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I do the everyday things like reading the scriptures, and saying prayers but I also get up 6:30 everyday and study, study, study! I am learning how to teach in Spanish the things of the Gospel. I love the scriptures and I can't wait to teach the people in Peru in their language, but for now I am loving the people of Oregon!
