Hi I'm Eric

I am from Logan, Utah. I am a student at BYU and am proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a freshman college student BYU studying Psychology, and I play Ultimate. If you don't know what this is I would encourage you to look up Ultimate Frisbee Highlights on Youtube, just to get an idea. I enjoy sports and spending time with my friends. I am currently preparing to serve a mission in Madrid, Spain.

Why I am a Mormon

Christ lives. I often feel that it is as simple as that. The truth is that because Christ lives is the reason for nearly everything I do. I live my life every day to be a better and more able servant for Him. Because Jesus Christ overcame death and atoned for my sins I am able to live each day with hope for something better. Each day that I live on this earth is easier knowing that I am a son of Heavenly Father who cares about me and wants me to succeed in my endeavor to return to His presence in heaven. While this is good, and I hope you can understand why I want to live this Gospel, there is something more. I am a Mormon because my Father in Heaven told me that this is His true church here on the earth today. I wasn't told through a vision, or through a burning bush. I didn't see my living God, but I know just as well that he is real. This truth was revealed to me just like every other truth has been revealed to me. Just like I know that 2 + 2 = 4, I know that my Father in Heaven is real. I have tested the teachings of the LDS church and I know them to be true. Our Father in Heaven speaks to us and cares about each one of us, and just as I know of the truthfulness of this Gospel, each and every one of you can know as well. If you look for truth and ask our Heavenly Father if the things you are learning are true, he will manifest the truthfulness of it unto you. In your mind and in your heart you will know. I know that the LDS church is the true church of God. I know it's teachings are true and I know that as we live its teachings we grow closer to our Father in Heaven and to our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that my Savior died for me and conditioned upon my faithfulness and repentance I can be forgiven of my sins. I know that I am son of God. I know that He loves me, and that He loves each one of you. If we will simply seek Him he will continue to bless us. He truly is our Father, and He loves us enough to send us His son.

How I live my faith

Because I have lived in northern Utah my entire life it is a little weird for me to be talking about how I live my faith. During my years growing up all of my friends were Mormon, and I have never been questioned about my religion. Because of this my experiences in the Mormon church are a little different from many LDS youth. But I believe I live my faith as best I can. I have been asked to teach principles of the LDS faith to my peers every Sunday. This experience does more to grow my faith in my Savior Jesus Christ than any other experience. Each Sunday as I direct discussions I watch young adults learn about their Savior. As they learn they commit to themselves to live more like him and to seek His help and guidance throughout their lives. This is an incredible experience, but it isn't the most important place that I live my faith. The most important way that I live my faith is in my every day life. Just as the young adults in my class each Sunday find ways they would like to come closer to Christ, I find ways that I need to pursue Christ in my life. As I seek His guidance in my life and try to help His children to become more like Him I can see how much He loves each one of His children. I live my faith each day as I spread this Christlike love with world. Every friend I help and every stranger I find a way to lift can feel more of this love and can grow to love Christ just as I do. This is how I live my faith.
