Hi I'm Hogan Jacobson

I've grown up in Utah. I am a college student studying mechanical engineering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an 18 year old freshman in college studying mechanical engineering. I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf, and just about any other sport. During the winters in Utah I ski about three times a week with my friends and family. I graduated high school a year early and have a love of learning and increasing my knowledge and experience. I like to hang out with my friends and spending time with my family. I left on my two year mission on April 3rd, 2013. I will be serving in the Paris, France mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have bee raised in a Mormon household since birth, but that is not the reason that I am a Mormon. I am extremely grateful that I was blessed to be born into a family that taught me the principles of the gospel as I grew up. However, once I reached the age of twelve years old I wanted to know whether or not all of it was true. At the time I was just finishing The Book of Mormon and I came across verses four and five in Moroni chapter ten which promise, "4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things". After reading these verses I decided to take the challenge and I prayed with a sincere heart, with real intent, and having faith in christ, and I received an answer that this is the only complete and restored church of God on the Earth today. I have since then trusted in God and asked for him to help me to understand when I had questions and doubts, and I have grown closer to him and to my Brother the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, as I have used his atonement to repent for my sins and overcome my imperfections. I am so blessed to be able to have Him in my life to ever help me to improve and become more like Him. I share this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

As I have grown up in the church I have had many leadership opportunities among the other members my age. Since I turned fourteen I have had many families that I had to opportunity to hometeach and care for with a companion priesthood holder in my ward. I have participated in youth activities during the week, and have attended church on sundays. In college I have often attended devotionals given by local and general church leaders. The main way that I live my faith is by keeping the commandments and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
