Hi I'm Amy

I am currently serving in the Alpine German-Speaking Mission. I love life and live it to the full. I'm a Mormon : )

About Me

I am serving as missionary in Switzerland, and have been here for 9 months. I received my call to the Alpine German-Speaking Mission last summer, and as I had never studied German before in my life, it came as quite a shock! I love being a missionary! Before I left home, I worked in a call centre for a year to save for my mission. I have A levels in Maths, French and Chemistry. I love to spend time out and about with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy going to theme parks - Alton Towers and Thorpe Park are two of my favourite places in the world! When I return home, I plan to go to university. At the moment, I am considering studying chemistry, but I'm not totally sure. I love baking (especially brownies and cookies) and listening to music. I LOVE music! I can't imagine how dull life would be without it! I miss normal music quite a bit, but I have found some pretty amazing missionary music too! I can play the piano a little, and was teaching myself the guitar before I left.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can not deny the things I know to be true. I have always attended Church. At first, it was simply just following the example of my parents, but as I grew older, I realised that I was starting to gain a testimony of the gospel for myself. I never really had a particular moment of inspiration when I realised it. It happened gradually. The church has provided me with life-changing experiences! Over the last nine months I have started to realise how much the gospel of Jesus Christ means to me. I have seen my testimony grow significantly as I have learned more about Him and His Atonement. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps me to be a better person because I know that we are blessed when we strive to continually do our best. I can see what a difference the gospel has made in my life so far. I know who I am - I am a daughter of God and He loves me. I have a purpose. I know that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Redeemer. I know that He died for us and was resurrected. Because of Him, I will one day be able to become like my Heavenly Father. I know that He is there for me and hears and answers my prayers. The gospel gives me hope, peace and joy. I am a Mormon because I love my Saviour Jesus Christ and want to follow Him.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, I am able to spend every day talking to people about what is most important to me! I have the opportunity to bare my testimony many times each day, and invite others to become more like Jesus Christ. Before my mission, I taught in Relief Society (a class held on a Sunday for women 18+) once a month. It was great practice for my mission! I also conducted the music for the congregation and was one of the YSA (Young Single Adult) reps in the local area. We planned all sorts of fun activities for those who are 18-30 : ) I try to let the Holy Spirit guide what I do. Each day I spend time studying the scriptures, focusing learning about my Saviour and His love for each of us. I pray multiple times each day, to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father. I love the quote by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin which says: “We don’t have to be perfect today. We don’t have to be better than someone else. All we have to do is to be the very best we can." Church is not just about listening on a Sunday. It involves going away and becoming a better person. We are told that we should "stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places". The gospel is a part of who I am. I love sharing the joy it brings to me with others! After all... How selfish would it be to keep it to myself?!
