Hi I'm Katie

New York. Nevada Las Vegas Mission. Utah (of all places). Diabetic. EMT/Paramedic. Facing Fears. Doing Hard Things. Mormon!

About Me

My parents raised my older sister and I in a small town in upstate New York. There, they taught me the power of independence and about the gospel of Jesus Christ. My love for the Savior motivated me to serve a full-time mission for the LDS church. On my mission I encountered the hardest trails of my life! They have made me who I am and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I currently reside in Provo, UT where I attend Utah Valley University in their Emergency Medical Services program. I believe we are the author of our own story. We all have the ability to live the life we want. I intend to live everyday to the fullest; and I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I know it's true. I have seen how the Atonement has changed my life. It has allowed me to not only experience the freedom from guilt that comes with making wrong choices, but has helped me overcome trials and hard-times. Only through Jesus Christ can I become the person Heavenly Father wants me to be. It all makes sense.

How I live my faith

I firmly believe that God trusts us. He created us. He made us just the way he intended. He has given us numerous gifts to live a full life, including a mortal body and agency. I have a goal to use those two things to be the best I can, and take full advantage of everything life has to offer. Anyone who knows my life thinks I'm crazy for how busy it is. I work full-time, go to school full-time, I have two callings in my ward (Sunday School teacher and member of the the church's womens organization prsidency, Relief Society), and I still find time to have a social life full of carnival's, hikes, movie nights, rock climbing and tons of laughter. I never want my life to be one of regret. Not only did Heavenly Father give me many wonderful talents and opportunities, but he gave me an even more sincere, loving gift: the Atonement. Through the Atonement, I can receive strength to conquer my trials, I can be clean of mistakes... More importantly? I can always try again. "Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me" Mosiah 26:30. True repentance comes from the heart. I know that with a sincere heart, I can turn to the Lord and be fully forgiven. I can partake of the sacrament each week with a light heart and a new determination. I do so not only to reminder Him, his love, or his sacrifice, but as a covenant that I will never stop trying.
