Hi I'm Lauren

I love my family. I love strawberries. I love BYU. I love singing. I love Lord of the Rings. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have attended BYU for two and a half years. I am majoring in Economics in the hope that I will get into BYU's OBHR grad program. I am currently serving a full time mission in Frankfurt, Germany. I love singing and dancing with my friends or on the stage. I have run a marathon and want to do a triathlon when I get home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church-as in, my family were all members when I was born. But I have truly discovered for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church upon the earth. When I was 15, my parents sent me to a youth camp in Palmyra, New York where Joseph Smith had the first vision of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I thought when I went there I would feel the spirit so strongly and know absolutely that the church was true. When I went, I didn't feel anything particularly extraordinary and was a little frustrated. I thought maybe I had been deceived about the church but continued my search in knowing the truth. Then, when I was 18 I went on a bigger Church History tour which included going to all the great sites of the church like Winter Quarters, Palmyra, Kirtland, Nauvoo, etc. Going to all these places I was sure I would feel an overwhelming spirit that the church was true and then truly know. But everytime we went to another site, I didn't feel any great power that consumed my soul and again questioned whether the church was true. However, during this church history tour, we were prompted to read the Book of Mormon at every second we were on the bus or not really doing anything. As I read this book each day with great attention to understanding it, that's when I learned the church was true. But it still wasn't because I had any particularly all-consuming spiritual experience. It was because of the gentle whispering of the spirit that the Book of Mormon was true every single day that I read it. Because of that constant spirit at my side on those long trips in the bus, I came to know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith really did see the Father and the Son in the Sacred Grove. He did all those great things he did in all those places I visited. I know that not because of what I saw, but because of what I felt.

How I live my faith

I haven't had a lot of prestigious callings in my life so far but I am willing to help the ward in any way I can. I like to think of myself as the volunteer. I hope that those who are in leadership positions in the church know that they can count on me for whatever help they are in need of. I go to church every Sunday. On the rare occasion that I am not able to attend, I can really feel a difference in my life that week. I love church. I love feeling the Spirit and rejuvenating myself to do better each week. I love living the gospel. I know it is the best way any person can live their life.
