Hi I'm Ricardo

I love and I will never forget when the Lord spoke peace to my mind. "What greater witness can you have than from God?" (D&C 6:23)

About Me

I love art, video games, and many movies. which kind of sounds like a catch all. But there are many other things that interest me. I played the French horn in junior high so you have permission to call me a band geek. I have four brothers that I love to death. I can get caught up in the lesser things, like videogames for example, but I know that there is true joy in this world. I love to spend time contemplating. Especially when I am out doors or with my family, because It just feels right when those things are there. I am amazed at everything from technology, to airplanes and cars, to animals, to nature. But really you can expect me to be one to care as much as I can about others. I really just love to help.

Why I am a Mormon

My first response would be because my parents were, don't get me wrong, I did believe that they were right but I did not have a testimony on my own. So growing up It was not much of a problem leaning on their testimonies, so I did. By about the middle of my high school career I began to realize that this certainly was not going to be enough. I began to wonder if this path through the "Gospel of Jesus Christ" that the LDS faith believed in was truly the Lord's chosen and Ordained path to exaltation. And simply going through the motions I did not give myself the opportunity to "try the spirits whether they were of God" (1John 4:1). So I came to the conclusion that if I were to find out if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was Christ's restored church here on the earth I would have to at the very least do what I was told to do, that is the simple things: reading my scriptures daily to find faith in Christ (not the Church), continuing to think about why it may or may not be true, and praying every day for an answer in addition to help though out the day. I figure my search would end once I finished the Book of Mormon. and there was a promise at the end of the book written by the last prophet who wrote in it. He says, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true" (Moroni 10:4). I remember distinctly kneeling down and offering a prayer there in my room that night. ( I read at night before bed anyways) the funny thing is that I didn't get some Hollywood experience, which honestly puzzled me. but as I got into bed a flood of memories came into my head, almost all at once, I suddenly could recall every blessing that had come my way and i suddenly realized that each one came from my obedience. And I simply could not deny that it was true. This was that peace I was searching for. I know that this faith will guide me to my savior, and in his footsteps.

How I live my faith

I am now serving as a missionary for LDS church to teach the people of the Oregon Portland area. I love every minute I'm out here and hope to do all I can to bring those who are ready closer to Christ. And not to mention on top of the blessing of this type of service opportunity, I can honestly say that I have become much more acquainted with the Lord and his promises. And I know I will never stop learning and growing with such a loving father in heaven. He IS that awesome!
