Hi I'm Helen

I'm a Welsh girl, living in the North of France, working as an English Assistant in a French school and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Welsh girl, born to an English mother and American father but currently living in France. I am a student doing joint honours English literature and French and so am currently job is to enthuse French teenagers to speak English!! I love all sports, I used to do gymnastics and hockey but still love to run, dance, cycle, do yoga, racket sports, volleyball etctec! I also love cooking and baking and arty crafty things. I enjoy painting, photography and drawing. I also enjoying acting and just generally giving everything a try! I have been blessed to travel all over the place many times to see my family in the States and to Germany, Luxembourg, Amsterdam and Poland. I enjoy spending time with friends and my boyfriend and meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I always had a choice between going to church with my dad or staying at home with my wonderful (non-practising) mother. From a young age, I chose to go to church with my dad. I chose to study my scriptures and say personal prayers from 9. As I got older I started to question why I did these things, why I spoke to Heavenly Father every day and why I chose to act differently from most people around me; even some of my family! I carried on doing the basics and never really felt how important my beliefs were until about 15 when I really started to explore what I had learnt and decide whether living the gospel was who I was. At times I had doubts and worries but carried on doing the basics. Through study, prayer, listening, questioning and exploring I know that no mere man could have created the book of Mormon and that it goes hand in hand with the bible. I know that I have been guided in my life by a loving Heavenly Father and I know that I am a daughter of God, like all other people here on earth. We are so loved! I love hearing about stories of Christ, every time I do I feel so blessed to know of Him and have the opportunity to become more like Him. Sometimes I feel like I could just explode at how blessed I am! To have incredible friends, family, health and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is my life. Although I do not know all things (ha! the cliché the more I learn the less I know) I love that I can continually progress and study and question! :)How blessed!

How I live my faith

So, I live my faith by practising (or at least trying hard to!) what I believe! I live it by trying to treat others how Christ would. I live it by studying my scriptures daily in order to learn of who we are, where we come from, what we need to do here and where we will go after this life.. (no biggies;)) I feel my faith helps me to see others as they should be seen, as precious. I strive to keep the commandments as best I can and can often see the blessings of doing so I choose to pray when in times of trouble or when I know there are others in times of trouble and feel peace in doing so. I try to listen to promptings to act how I feel I am needed to. Time wise I go to church 3 hours a week every Sunday, and sometimes teach lessons to my beautiful Young women (I've been called to lead 5 French young women). I also spend time going to institute, to listen and participate in religious lessons and eat a delicious meal after! (woop). I love that in church most people are striving to be as Christ like as they can and I learn new things every week:) I sometimes go out teaching with the missionaries from church, which is always fun in French! Also I participate when there are sports activites/ service activies etcetc and it is especially great to have a community feel whilst I'm living in another country.
