Hi I'm Lars Thomas Anderson

I'm a high school swimmer and track runner I enjoy rock music and i'm a mormon

About Me

I enjoy rock music such as Breaking Benjamin and Rise Against. I've swam on my high school swim team for four years now making it to state my senior year. I'm also on the track team I enjoy reading and playing games like Dota 2 and Starcraft. I've tried my turns at football and basketball and I go skiing in the winter. I have completed my eagle scout requirements and received my award. Right now I am preapraing to go on a mission. After my Mission I am planning on getting my medical degree so that I can study Epidemiology.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and I lived it at first cause my parents told me go to church and all that. But going through the motions of what they had me do has opened my eyes to the gospel and what it can do for me and others. I've read the book of Mormon and I know that it is true by knowing it is true I know that Joseph Smith is a real prophet and he brought forth the true church of Christ. Christ he did walk this earth and he suffered for my sins he lived here and learned as we did about what this life is. I know that god is my heavenly father and that is probably the biggest reason why I am a Mormon because I know that he wants me back and he wants me to come home to him. That's why I am a Mormon because my dad wants me home he wants me to come back to him and live with him forever in heaven.

How I live my faith

My junior year of school I was called as a special needs councilor. The church in my area set up a youth group for the special needs people ranging from the ages of 12 to 68 each special needs has a buddy that they spend the year with. We build air planes do scouting activities we did service projects and saw basketball games. Every Thursday we would meet at a church and find our buddies to spend and hour and a half with them. Also every wendsday we have our own youth group for the people in the area close to my home we get together and have dinner with the older people in my area and we also learn more about family history. We visit the temples around us and we hang out playing basketball and such. I attend my church services every Sunday and go to the classes afterword.

What is being a Mormon like?

Lars Thomas Anderson
Being a Mormon is probably not much different from not being a Mormon.I have friends in California who were surprised when they found out that I was LDS. We have fun we dance we play sports and video games I have been on a track and a swim team. We sleep and go to work just like any other human being does. The main difference between Mormons and others is we know were we are going after we die in this life. Because of this we act differently then allot of other people do. Being a Mormon we go to church every Sunday and learn more about the lords gospel. I really do enjoy being a Mormon I have fun and I feel loved and supported by all those who are in my ward and stake. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Lars Thomas Anderson
We do not worship the Prophet Joseph Smith. He was the man who brought the church back into this world yes. But it is Christ's church not Joseph's church. We learn about Joseph Smith but we pray to God our eternal father. We see Joseph as a great leader and a man of god but worship him no he was an instrument in the hands of god that lead to the formation of Christ's church on the world today. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Lars Thomas Anderson
The Book of Mormon was written by many different prophets that lived on the American continent during ancient times. Think Native Americans and central Americans long before Columbus every saw the new world. The Prophets who wrote the Book of Mormon were people like Nephi, Lehi, Mormon, Alma and Helamen. The prophets who wrote in the Book of Mormon wrote over a period of about 900 years and one of the last writers in the Book of Mormon, Mormon, abridged all the records of these prophets and created the Book of Mormon. So the Book of Mormon was not created by Mormon but abridged by Mormon. All the writers in the Book of Moron though were prophets of the lord and all of them wrote by his power and spirit so that others would be able to follow Christ it is another testament of Jesus Christ along with the Bible. What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Lars Thomas Anderson
The Word of Wisdom is a set of rules that explains the dangers of certain habits foods and drinks. Things that the Word of Wisdom prohibits is the smoking of Tobacco drinking of alcohol any kind, coffee and tea, as well as all illegal drugs. The Word of Wisdom is one of the easiest commandments to follow and see the benefits of following it. Science is now promoting the same things that the church was over 200 years ago. Tobacco is harmful and can cause cancer whether oral or lung it decreases brain function. Drinking Alcohol impairs the brain as well at the same time that it attacks the liver. Coffee and tea can be addictive and can interfere with well being. And illegal drugs are illegal for a reason. By following the Word of Wisdom we are promised that we shall run and not be wary walk and not faint that we will receive marrow to our bones and just have greater health then if we did not. How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Lars Thomas Anderson
The book of mormon is different from the bible in as first it was not compiled by men. The bible was made by men, while the books in it where written by prophets and apostles the actual book of the bible was put together by men. At the same time man of the truths that were in the bible were taken out by different people. Some where mistakes as the bible was translated from different languages. At other times the bible was changed on purpose so that corrupt preists could control the church more or keep others below them. During the dark ages the bible changed hands and was passed around and even today there are man different versions of it. The book of Mormon is a book that while being written was completly guided by the hand of god. It is an abrigment of all the history of the Nephites and the Lamenites who are the Native Americans today. It is another testiment of Jesus Christ and it contains the fullness of the restored gospel with all the plain and precious truths. The Book of Mormon was not written by Mormon but abriged by Mormon. It is a collection of many books much like the bible is. Joseph Smith obtained the plates in 1827, Moroni the last prophet to hold the plates went back down to the earth from heaven and showed Joseph Smith were the plates where buried. Joseph Smith then Translated the book of Mormon. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Lars Thomas Anderson
We believe in the Bible becasue we believe in Christ. The Bible testifies of the divinity of Christ and it testifies of his earthly ministries. We believe in the Bible because it really can draw us closer to Christ. The Old testiment teaches of the Ancient Isrilites who believed in the first coming of Christ as their Messiah. It also covers the making of the world Adam Eve Noah Abraham and Moses. It goes through he judges of Isrial and it also talks about The Kings of Isrial and their wars with others. These things all bring us closer to Christ as they give us prophecies of his coming and what he will do for the world. The New Testament is about Christ´´s coming and his earthly ministy. These are the teachings of christ him self. His parables and his stories. The main point of the New testament and the culmination of everything that is about the bible is Christ when he is in the Garden of Gethsemane. That is where he bleed and suffered fo our sins. This is where the atonement took place and that is how we get back to God. We believe in the bible becuase it testifies of Chirst and his life. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Lars Thomas Anderson
The best way to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true is by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the evidence that God has indeed called a prophet in this day and age. By reading it you come to know that what it teaches is in line with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and you know that what it teaches is true. By praying about it you open the door to receive an answer from God about were the Book of Mormon came from. He will tell you in your mind and in your heart by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true and that Joseph Smith truly was His prophet seer and revelator. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Lars Thomas Anderson
Faith is believeing in things that are not seen but are true. It also could be called hope but it is stronger then hope is. It is belief and desire. It comes during and after action. Faith without works is dead. to gain faith you first must preform the actions that are asked of you. It is a strange relationship because before we start changinge our lives we want to know if that which we are doing is the right thing. To gain faith about the book of mormon you have to start reading it. to gain faith about christ you have to start by following his teachings. This is a strange relationship but it makes you stronger by doing that. Faith is compared o a seed if you have the desire of faith then what you do is you plant it by reading or by following christ. When you plant it you continue to do the right things and that will nurish the seed that is growing in you. Let that seed grow and it will build you up to be stronger and you can gain a sure knowledge of that which you are trying to build your faith on. Show more Show less
