Hi I'm Ryan

I live in Utah. I am studying to become a chemical engineer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently returned home from serving a mission in Brazil. I LOVED it! I am a college student. I'm going to become an engineer. It's A LOT of work, but I love it! I love to play sports, especially basketball and volleyball. I love music. I play the trumpet and I sing in a choir at my school. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I know that it's true!

Why I am a Mormon

Before going on my mission, I think I kind of viewed the Church as a social thing... a place to go on Sundays, and a good way to live your life.... But soon after my mission started, I realized that the Church is the ONLY way to live your life. I had always wanted a strong testimony of the Church, of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and of the Book of Mormon, but for some reason, although I always went to church and I lived the commandments pretty well, I couldn't say that I had a for sure testimony. As a missionary, I realized that I needed to know for myself. How could I share a testimony that I didn't have? And so I prayed and asked Heavenly Father if it was all true. No response. I prayed again. Nothing. I asked multiple nights yearning for an answer, until finally one day it came. Now I know that the Church is true. I know it! I cannot ever deny how I felt, how my heart was touched by the Spirit. It's hard to describe other than I know it by the power of the Holy Ghost. And although He didn't answer right away, He answered! God is our Father and He hears and answers ALL of our prayers! Sometimes we just have to wait patiently.

How I live my faith

I am a Sunday school teacher in my ward. I get to teach others about the Temple... about how awesome it is, and how everyone can prepare to enter there someday. I try to study the Book of Mormon everyday, because I know that when we read it we get a power to resist temptation unlike any other. And I know that I need that in my life. Everyday!

What is faith?

I like to think of faith as more of an action word. Faith doesn't just mean believe... it means DO! If you have faith that following Jesus Christ will give you a better life, then GO and DO! Follow Him! If you don't DO anything to show that you believe in Christ, or if you don't actually get up and follow Him, then you don't really have faith in Christ. Saying that faith without works is dead is like saying life without life is dead. Faith is action. Faith is power. Show more Show less
