Hi I'm Alyssa

I am a kickboxer. I am a missionary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a missionary serving in the Massachusetts Boston mission, Spanish speaking! Before leaving on my mission, I was a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I am an English major with a creative writing emphasis and an editing minor. I am so excited to have this chance to serve the Lord and His children! The church is true, the Lord loves us, and I know that if we trust in Him, we will receive blessings far greater than we could ever possibly imagine. I am also super stoked that the Lord blessed me to serve in the beautiful Spanish language! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into the gospel with parents very strong in the faith. However, I continue to keep the faith and stay active in the church now that I am living on my own because I KNOW that this gospel is true. His church is a vital pillar in my life that keeps me stable and helps provide me with a firm foundation to build upon as I continue to live, learn and grow. The Lord's love for us and His gospel are the reason behind EVERYTHING we have. He is behind every joy and happiness, every friend and family member, every sunny day and all of the beautiful things we are able to see and experience. Without His gospel, this life would not mean anything, and I refuse to believe that every tender moment and every strengthening trial aren't a part of a picture so much bigger than ourselves.

How I live my faith

At the beginning of the year, I was struggling to decide what my life plans were meant to be in the coming years. I had a lot of options open for summer and fall of 2014, but nothing felt right and I quickly became very frustrated. I decided to fast about what I should be doing with my life and that whole day the answer I got was that I needed to serve a mission and I needed to do it NOW. I was terrified of that answer because I wasn't sure if I was ready for that kind of responsibility. However, I decided in that moment that I needed to trust the Lord and as long as I did that, everything would be as it should be, for the Lord never leads us to failure. Since receiving my call and preparing to leave I have made it my personal motto to always trust in the Lord. I have come so much closer to my Savior because of this and I find myself to be much more care-free, which has allowed me to have my eyes open to ways to serve others. I live my faith by trusting in my Savior every single day. Serving a mission isn't easy, leaving the life you know and love behind for 18 months isn't easy, and every day life usually isn't easy either. But trusting in Him has allowed me to live in the moments and love every second! I not only love each and every day, but I also try to share that happiness and love with those around me. He lives, and because He lives, I live for Him.
