Hi I'm Skyler

I love my family. I am an honors student. I play all kinds of sports. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have two brothers, two sisters, and two amazing parents. I am the oldest child in my family. In high school I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, and I am graduating on May 23rd, 2013. After I graduate, I will be leaving to serve a mission in the El Salvador Santa Ana/Belize mission on May 29th, 2013. In high school I played basketball, volleyball, and I swam. I am also a sponsored skim boarder, along with my friend Jared, by DB Skimboards. I like all sorts of board sports including surfing, wake boarding, skim boarding, snow boarding, and long boarding. I like to be outdoors and I love camping. During the summer of 2012, I went to Zambia with Mothers Without Borders as a volunteer on a humanitarian team. That was one of the best experiences of my life and I would recommend that everyone does something like that. After my mission, I plan to start school at the University of Utah, and I plan to eventually become an orthodontist.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the true church. The very church that Christ himself set up when he was on the earth. Although His complete Gospel was lost after He was crucified and His apostles were killed, it was again restored when God the Father and Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. This Gospel, and all things that are appendages to it, lead me to happiness. It provides me with comfort, security, and a purpose in life. I know who I am. I know why I am here on earth. I know where I am going after I die. I am a Child of God, sent here to learn and grow and to become more like my Father who sent me. When I die, if I am faithful and obedient, I will again return to live with the Father who sent me here. I am a Mormon because after reading the Book of Mormon, I have felt in my own heart the assurance that it is true. If it is true, then how could I do anything other than follow what it says. I know that Christ lives. I know that He loves me, and he loves you too. He knows my name, and He knows yours. He knows my struggles and joys, He knows your struggles and joys. He wants all humankind to be happy. I have found that TRUE happiness in His Gospel. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actively participating in all of my church callings. With some of the other young men, I visit those who cannot make it to church each week. I am currently preparing to serve my church by going on a mission for two years. That is one of the greatest manifestations of my faith in this church. I am going on a mission because I know that what our church teaches is the truth! The restored Gospel that we have is the most important message to share with anybody. It will change the lives of ALL who put their trust in it. I live my faith by reading the scriptures daily and seeking a greater understanding of them. I live my faith by reaching out to those who need a friend. I live my faith by obeying the laws and precepts that God has set forth for his children and that have been revealed to us in this time as well as in times past.
