Hi I'm Lori

I'm the youngest of seven kids. I'm a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of seven kids; I have two brothers and four sisters, three nephews a niece and my second niece on the way. I love writing, rollerblading, hiking, camping hanging out with friends and almost anything outside. I love music, singing, dancing, food and trying new things. Friends and family are extremely important to me and mean the world to me. I'm currently a student at a large university and love every minute of it. I love the new people I have met here and I am excited to be almost finished with my general credits; knowing I am that much closer to being able to begin the classes for my major! I have always been fascinated with weddings and one day hope to be a wedding planner. I have been a part of my school newspaper since seventh grade and am now writing for my university. I love doing graphic design work online, having my voice heard and sharing other people's stories. There are so many things to be shared with the world. I'm an outgoing, out-door, big city girl and I love life and all the joys it brings! Life isn't perfect, it's hard, but looking back, everything is worth it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and have been a part of it my whole life. I was raised to go to church every Sunday with my family and to attend the appropriate activities during the week. So the motions were instilled in me at a very young age. However, I am a Mormon because with all my heart, I know this church is true. It has been proven to me time and time again. When I was 12, I lost my brother to suicide. He was my best friend. I struggled with this for a long time, but one day I knew I needed help, I needed an answer. So, I got on my knees, and fully in tears I prayed to my Heavenly Father. For the first time in my life I got a very clear answer: my brother is okay, he is where he needs to be, and one day, I will see him again. We will be reunited. This event was what really began my own testimony, knowing the gospel is true, for myself instead of just relying on someone else's. In July I was at the Dark Knight Rises premiere in Aurora, Colorado and had several friends injured. This event was horrific, but through it, my Heavenly Father's presence was so very apparent. He is taking care of the angels who were taken that night, and He is taking care of those who are still here. Trials do not mean that we are not loved, Heavenly Father allows us to go through our trials so that we can grow stronger. His love for us is so strong and with His help we can get through anything. We are never given anything we can't handle. He knows each and everyone of us specifically. He knows our struggles and strengths, likes and dislikes. I know that after this life, we can be reunited with our families and can live with them forever. I know that President Thomas S Monson is a true prophet of God who is provided revelation and speaks to us for God. I know the Book of Mormon is a testiment of the gospel and a record of past prophets. I know Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that through His atonement we can be resurrected and return to our Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

In my ward here at my university, I am called as one of the ward librarians. With this calling I am able to help others find videos, pictures, music and other media to help share the messages and doctrine they are teaching. It is such a blessing having these resources and being familiar with them and being able to help others. So many people come to the library with different stories and information and it is so interesting! When I am back home, in the ward my parents are still in, I babysit for a lot of the families there. I also help sit with some of the families to help them with their kids to help make their time at church a little more relaxing and peaceful. I love children and love helping take care of them. I am currently preparing to go on my mission for 18 months and will be leaving in May, I couldn't be more excited to serve and have this opportunity.
