Hi I'm Megan

I find my greatest joy in giving service to others. Being in the outdoors is where I find peace, and I love being a Mormon.

About Me

Be yourself. I've learned that no one else can be me like I can, and people love it! Trying to be someone else is hard, it is. We each have our own style, and the most beautiful thing we can have is quiet confidence, with a joyful smile, sharing the joy that comes from being ourselves. It's true! We each have something important to share. There were times in my life that I remember thinking that I had to fit in with the "right people". I realize now that the right people fit in with me. When we are confident in who we are, it allows others to be themselves too. The best part about being myself is that I can give all of myself to serving others. Whether it is a volunteer trip, or finding ways to serve in my local community, my heart finds joy in the gratitude of those who I get to share my time with. I have always loved creating. It may be art, it may be designing a room, or it may be a treat for someone else, but I know that what ever I do, I make it my own. Family is the center of my life. Everything I love is done best with my family. Hiking, making something new, or enjoying free time is always best when someone I love is hangin around.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, and for a long time I didn't understand the fullness of what I was experiencing. I was taught in the ways of the gospel by wonderful parents, and they showed me how obedience brings about blessings. Yet it was not until I tested the teachings for myself that I gained a testimony of this gospel. I understand that what God promises, He is bound to fulfill through our obedience. He does not hold back on what we receive, for He wants to bless us more than we can ever know. I know that living a worthy life of the blessings of our Father in Heaven is not always the easiest, but is the surest way of happiness. I know that my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, sacrificed for me because He loves me, just like He loves you. He wants us to be happy. Not just happy as to the worlds standards, but TRULY happy, happiness that comes through living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I will share with you one reason I am truly happy because of the gospel. Families. Families that can live together. Forever. I lost my mother to a battle of breast cancer when I was age 11. She was only 42. She had fought for four long hard years, but through it all, she knew of the gospel, kept her promises with the Lord, and lived a good life. Because of the gospel, I know that I will see my mother again. I know that she still lives, and I know she watches over me as a guardian angel. I have the opportunity to live a life so that I may return to my Savior, my Father in Heaven, my mother ,and the rest of my family forever. It is only through the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that this is possible. This I know, and this is what brings me everlasting joy.

How I live my faith

Faith? Action. I love the example of a prophet from the Book of Mormon, Nephi. He was given a commandment to fulfill and knew God would help him accomplish anything that he was commanded to do. When his brothers lost faith and wanted to turn back to return to their father, Nephi told them, "As the Lord liveth, and as we live, we will not go down unto our father in the wilderness until we have accomplished the thing which the Lord hath commanded us." (1 Ne 3:15) He knew that "the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." (1 Ne 3:7) My faith is something that I try to show every day through my actions. Following the commandments God has given, seeking His will, and then fearlessly following through with them is how I try to show my faith. I'm not perfect at it, but I know God has a purpose for me to fulfill each day, and as I seek to know what that is, I can reach greater heights because He will be there to help me. As I read scriptures and pray daily, my faith is built through the examples of others. And as I put trust in the Lord and try something new, I begin to see just how much the Lord cares and His constant hand in my life. Faith is a personal action. A personal commitment. It helps me through the ups and downs of everyday life. And as I put my trust in my Savior each morning, I more easily focus on the big picture of each day, and understand how I can help others through their hard times too.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Megan
One of the greatest sayings that I have heard on this subject is "We are not mortal beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings experiencing mortality." I don't know who said this, or if it is the exact phrasing, but the message is the same. We began as spiritual beings, who have come to earth to receive a body and experience life here on earth. We wanted to prove to ourselves, and our Father in Heaven that we could use our agency, or our gift and ability to choose between good and evil, to return and live with Him. When we choose good, we become closer and more like God by aligning our will with His. One of the greatest blessings our Father gave us here on earth is families. As families we can help one another through hard times and show love that Christ would show. Show more Show less
