Hi I'm R. Banner Owens

I was raised in Arizona, I study languages, I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Mesa, Arizona and grew up in Gilbert. I am the second child of 5 kids. One older brother and three younger sisters. I plan on studying Linguistics in college after my Mission. I have my call and will be leaving to Spokane Washington, English speaking, on November 29th, 2017. I have studied Japanese since my Freshman year of highschool (2012) and have learned the basics of Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, German, and French. However, I plan on learning much more than that. I have recently also gotten into swing dancing and would like to compete after my mission in East Coast, Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Collegiate Shag. On my free time, I like to play video games competatively and even placed in the top 500 in North America in a game called Team Fortress 2 back in 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon household and the easy answer is I'm mormon because it's all I know and I grew up with it. But the true answer, and the answer I will always tell people is, I am Mormon because I absolutely know it to be right for me. I know that the things Joseph Smith wrote about, and the things that were shown to him in a vision were true. I know that this gospel is the true and restored gospel of our Father in Heaven. I know that we are loved endlessly by our Father and His son.

How I live my faith

I'm currently in two wards; My records are in my Family Ward but I attend the Young Single Adult (YSA) ward because I'm slightly uncomfortable being in Sunday School classes with people 3 years younger than me, or 20 years older. In my family ward, I lead the music during the meetings as the Ward Chorister until I left to go to the YSA ward, in which I am also the Ward Chorister. I love music and I use it to share my testimony and help others feel the spirit.
