Hi I'm Kristy

I grew up in California and Utah. I love distance running and anything that's outdoors and active. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student attending Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. I attended Utah State University in Logan for my first two years of college, but made the switch this fall for a variety of personal reasons. However, I'll be an "aggie" for life!! I love the small farm-town feeling that Logan has, and the down-to-earth people I met there. I love the beautiful old trees around town and the beautiful Logan Canyon. During my freshman year of college, I got into distance running. I have run three half marathons since, and countless shorter races in between. Last October my twin sister and I dressed up as "Thing One" and "Thing Two" for the Provo Halloween Half Marathon, which was such a blast!! Besides running and hiking and snowboarding and everything else outdoors, I also love anything that has to do with children. I am currently a nanny for the best family in the entire world. I love the three little boys I watch, and I feel so blessed to have that job. I am also an elementary education major, and look forward to having my own classroom one day. Beyond that, the gospel and my family are what matters most to me. It really all comes down to that. That is why I'm serving a full-time mission come May -- so that I can share the gospel with others in the hopes that they can be with their families forever, just like I will be with mine.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had countless experiences throughout my life which have testified to me of the truth of this religion. I have had prayers answered, watched miracles occur, and seen lives healed through the power of Christ's atonement. I figured out long ago that if there is a God, then this would be his church, and there is not a day that goes by that I can't see the Lord's hand in my life, and because of that, I know that He lives, and so I know that this is his gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways.... I pray to my Heavenly Father every day. I thank him for the things he has blessed me with and ask him for wisdom and understanding and comfort. I ask him to bless the people I love and to help me to be a better, more humble person. I study my scriptures daily. I cherish the words that I find in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other modern day scriptures. I often find answers to my prayers and a deep feeling of peace as I poor over the words of ancient and modern-day prophets. I treat others with kindness. Christ taught that the "charity never faileth" and that living the gospel without charity for others is not really living the gospel at all. I would say that developing a great love for people and serving others is probably my number one goal in life.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

My interactions with God have always left me knowing that He loves me intensely, and understands me on a very intimate level. As Mormons we believe that He loves each of us and knows us personally because we are his spirit sons and daughters. He cares about what goes on in our lives and will help us however we can, however when we sin it makes it harder for him to bless us and it makes it harder for us to feel his love. That doesn't mean that he loves us less when we sin, but because of justice he cannot bless us as much if we choose to lead sinful lives. That is part of why it is so vital to live the gospel, because maintaining a good relationship with God is key to happiness in life. Show more Show less
