Hi I'm Sean

I love sports, I love to listen to music and struggle to play it, I'm from Provo, UT, I love my life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and living in Provo, Utah. I love watching movies, playing basketball, and being with my friends. If there is a game of basketball on the streets you'll probably see me running to join in! There are 7 people in the family: Mum, Dad, 3 older sisters, and 1 older brother. Most of my childhood memories include them and I love them more than anything in the world (yes, even the older sisters). My parents own a restaurant in Utah so that's where I spent a lot of my time. My Mum is my superhero and if I can be half the person that she is, I'd be the happiest young man in the world. I am planning on attending University after my mission and hope to go into the medical field and study to become a doctor.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church and tagged along to all of the activities, church meetings, etc mainly because my parents were very strong members and wanted me to. I think there comes a point in our lives where we have to start making decisions on our own. We have to stop relying on Mum and Dads testimony and begin to develop our own. The Book of Mormon has a great story that Alma, the prophet, taught. He describes that no matter how little your faith is, even if you only have a desire to believe, to let that faith work within us. My faith was probably a fraction of a seed.. nevertheless, something was there. I prayed and asked my Father in Heaven if these things were true and was answered. A pillar of light didn't descend upon me, I didn't see lights or angels, a overpowering feeling didn't tell me me it was true, I was calm. There was peace, like I've never felt before. And that was just the beginning. As my prayers grew, so did the answers and blessings. After taking Alma's advise, I have a perfect knowledge; a certain understanding that God lives. That loves us. And I know that everyone can come to that same knowledge.

How I live my faith

I believe that when any person comes to a understanding that our Father in Heaven loves us, a change starts to happen within and we feel of the blessings that come from His love and His light and will strive to obey and to keep all of His commandments. We realise that He only wants what is best for us. We learn to trust Him. I would say that I live my faith by doing my best to follow the example of our Heavenly Fathers son, Jesus Christ, who has prepared a path, marked the way, and led by example of how to walk that path.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

We learn in the Book of Mormon that if we really want to know the truth for ourselves, we are to pray with a "sincere heart" and "real intent" and if we have that desire to know the answer, God our Heavenly Father will answer our prayers by the power of the Holy Ghost (Moroni 10: 4-5) The presence of the Holy Ghost is something that we can not deny. In 3 Nephi 11:3 it describes the feeling as a voice... "it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn." If you have ever done something good for somebody or provided some sort of service, you walk away with that warm and peaceful feeling, the presence of the Holy Ghost is the same. Show more Show less
