Hi I'm Alisha

I go to school and work. I love being around people and helping others in every way I can. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 6 kids. I share a room with my 3 little sisters of 11, 9, and 6. My brothers and I are really close and love being together. My family is very close as well. I go to school at BMCC and online at BYUi. Aside from church and school, I love doing photography, playing piano, texting, being with friends, being outdoors, helping others, baking/cooking, and just about anything else as long as I have my friends and family by my side. I went to EFY summer 2012. It was an amazing experience. I learned about myself and how to help myself with others. Along with everyone else, I definitely have my struggles as well. I have my crushes and my friends. We go do activities together. And I love turtles. I have 2 turtles. I love kids and laughing!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up being a mormon. It was kind of just a thing my family did. My parents made us go and we had to go. They were in charge. When I was around 9-12, I hated going to church. It was a hassle and I never talked to anyone. I began to question what the real reason I was going every week was. It wasn't because I wanted to. Mostly it was because I felt like I had to. When I turned 12 though, a new family moved into my ward. In this family, there was this guy I liked. He went to a different school than I did and we never saw each other. Except at church. I, for a while, went to church only to see him. I got up early and made sure everyone was ready, and we were always there. I began to see how much church meant to him, and that he wanted a girl who was into church and had a strong testimony of it. I realized I didn't, so I began my journey have learning as much as I could. To this day, 7 years later, I still talk to this guy, and I have developed a testimony and have a desire to learn more. I want people to be able to feel the way I do about the church, and realize it is a blessing not a burden. Without the church, my life would be empty of goodness, and full of evil. One of my favorite scriptures that goes along with this is Romans 12:21 "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." To me this means that I need to strive to live righteously and by doing so, I can overcome evil and the power of Satan. If I can overcome that, I can overcome anything. This gives me strength to move on. I now go to church by choice, not by habit or force. It is something I enjoy doing more than anything, and I love the feeling I get by being there. The joy that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ is something every person needs in their lives.

How I live my faith

I like to study my scriptures all the time. I've served as president in a couple of different presidencies. I try to be acquainted to all around no matter what the differences are. Everyone needs a friend and I try to be that friend. I live my faith by being a good example of what I believe and showing others that a church life is possible even with a busy schedule otherwise. If you put the Lord first you will have time for everything you need. I plan to maybe serve a mission within the year as well.
