Hi I'm Zach

I love the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, hiking, dirt biking, and shooting are a few of my favorite things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid hunter and fisherman. I love hiking up to the top of a mountain in search of that first buck of the season. However, since Southern California is not famous for it's deer hunting, I have yet to find one. When it isn't deer season, I spend my time fishing. My favorite place is on the side of a river, watching my line (either the fly-line or normal) flowing with it. I have played football, baseball, soccer, and been a member of the swim team at my high school. It was my first time ever swimming competitively, and I loved it. Even though I was a senior, I was swimming J.V. My coach asked me to be team captain because of the leadership he had seen in me. I know that it was because of the various activities I have participated in as a Mormon. Also, I have just received a mission call! I have been called to serve in the Michigan Lancing Mission. I leave March 12, 2014

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. But that doesn't mean I just grew up believing it. Like anything, you have to try it out. Put it to the test. One thing we are strongly encouraged to do is to find out for ourselves. Just because our parents believe it to be true doesn't mean we have to. No amount of convincing from our parents can make you stay. At the end of the Book of Mormon, Moroni (the last prophet to write in it) exhorts, or strongly encourages, all of us to read it, study it, ponder on it, and pray about it to see if it is true. I have done that. I have read the Book of Mormon and asked God, our Heavenly Father, if it is true. I got an immediate answer confirming what I truly wanted to know. And that is that the Book of Mormon is scripture. Which means that Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. They called him to be a prophet in these last days. Through Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ restored His church. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a full time mission! I am currently serving in the Michigan Lansing Mission (MLM). There is nothing better I could be doing with my life at this moment! We wake up every morning, study the scriptures for two hours, then go proselyte for the rest of the day. We take an hour for lunch and dinner and that's it. Beyond that, we are doing what we can to build up the Kingdom of God!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Zach
Yes, we do regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God. We use it daily, just as we use the Book of Mormon daily. Quite often, we use them together. The Bible was written years ago by prophets and Christs apostles. The Book of Mormon was written by prophets who lived here on the American Continent. It contains their writings, prophecies, and an account of Jesus Christ Himself visiting them. They both prophecy and witness that Jesus Christ was born of Mary, offered Himself for us, atoned for our sins, rose from the grave on the third day and that He lives! Show more Show less
