Hi I'm Bekah Kitchens

I grew up all over the beautiful state of Washington and am currently attending BYU-I.

About Me

I am a fiery redhead and the middle of five children. I was home-schooled my whole life until attending a community college my junior and senior year of high school. I am currently studying vocal performance at Brigham Young University-Idaho. It's my first semester here, I absolutely love music and am so grateful for the opportunity to be studying something I love at such an amazing university. Other hobbies of mine include hiking, camping and most anything that has to do with animals. Until about two years ago I had planned on being a zoologist, but after discovering my voice and love of opera I decided to go a different route. Future plans include marriage in August to the man of my dreams, finishing by bachelors degree in music and from there either working, continuing my education or starting a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and baptized at the age of 8. When I was younger I never imagine myself straying away from the gospel, but in my teenage years that's exactly what happened. It was a scary and difficult time for me, I stopped praying and reading the scriptures on my own, I hung out with the wrong people and I lost sight of those things that were truly important. After about a year I started dating a really great guy and with his help was able to become more fully committed to the gospel. It's not really a conversion but more of a re-conversion story. I hope anyone struggling with their testimony or temptations of the world will take a few minutes each night to speak with our Heavenly Father and share with him what you're struggling with and ask for strength and his guidance throughout your life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by sharing the powerful spirit that music can bring. I have seen the ways music can touch peoples life and one of my greatest desires is that I may be able to use my talents to praise my Heavenly Father and share the Holy Ghost with others. Right now I am serving as ward choir director for my student ward and even though sometimes only one or two other people show up I am still grateful for the opportunity I have to prepare and share music with others.
