Hi I'm Cody Washburn

I grew up in Utah. I have been raised in the LDS church. Over time I have gained a testimony of the Gospel.

About Me

I am currently in Minnesota on a mission. It has been a lot of hard work and challenges but it has been so worth it! I enjoy hanging out with my friends and going riding on my dirt bike. I also enjoy video games. I have come across a lot of problems and challenges in my life. I have suffered with addiction and bad habits. My bad habits got me to the point where I fell so far behind in high school that I dropped out. For about a year after that I just couldn't get on my feet, Nothing seemed to be working for me. Then I turned to the gospel and the Lord. I asked for help and guidance. A few days later I got a letter in the mail from a family member that I home taught that was serving a mission. He said that my father and I were big reasons on why he decided to go on his mission. I didn't realize that I could influence somebody to make that big of a decision. At that moment I decided I was going to serve the Lord and go on a mission, but first I had to graduate. So I started attending classes and doing packets to get my GED. After a few months I was ready for the final test. I was nervous but confident that I would pass. I said a quick prayer asking for a clear mind and asking if the Lord would help me remember the things that I learned. I did not ask him to give me the answer or help me know things that I did not prepare for. And then I proceeded to take the test. I finished the test and passed with flying colors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have never known any different. Over my life I have had struggles and problems and sometimes I didn't do what I should and I started to fall away from the church. Luckily I had good friends that pushed me to get back into the church and to learn. They would come over and check on me and help me study. They would go to church with me and sit through my classes. I know that the Lord works in ways that we can't fully understand. I needed my friends more then I knew. Even to this day if I seem to be in a rough patch I will get random texts or calls or visits from my friends letting me know that they are there for me and that they care. I know that my redeemer lives and that he hears my prayers. I know that he is there to comfort me and pick me up when I get knocked down. Sometimes when you fall you can get right back up, and other times it takes a little while to know that you can get back up and to know that the Lord is there with his arm stretched forth and hand open waiting for you to take it so he can help you up.

How I live my faith

Sundays I would go to church and learn more about the gospel. I did my best to pay attention in the classes. I also lived my religion every day. I made sure that I lived the gospel standards and did what I knew was right. I surrounded myself with people that had the same standards and that helped me be able to make sure that I did what I knew was right. I try my hardest to be a good example to those that I come in contact with and to help the people that I know. But I am in no way perfect. I make mistakes all the time and am always in need to repent. I know that as we live the gospel standards and repent when we need to we will be blessed and we will have the spirit more abundantly in our lives.
