Hi I'm Ted Brewster

I am a scientist and educator that cleans up contaminated soil and groundwater. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah but raised in Oregon and Southern California. I have lived in many states in the USA. I served a mission for the Mormon church in the New England area. I attended college in Connecticut where I received a bachelor of science degree in Biology. I received my master of science degree in microbiology at Brigham Young University. I have been married to my best friend for 21 years and we have three beautiful children. I love my family dearly and love to spend my free time with them. I am deeply religious and have a strong faith in God and Jesus Christ. I love science! Like many of the greatest scientists in history I believe that science testifies of God. I work as an environmental scientist managing and directing oil and gas spill and waste clean ups using microorganisms. I have had the opportunity to work in most of the United States as well as places like Taiwan and China. I have also taught college environmental science and biology classes as an adjunct professor for the last 8 years. As hobbies I love woodworking and fishing. I enjoy building custom furniture. I love to read historical, biographical, classical, and political thought books. I am a technical writer and have publsihed numerous scientific articles regarding the biological cleanup of polluted soil and groundwater. I love to travel and spend time with my family. I have been a youth coach for baseball, softball, wrestling and football. My goal as a young man was to be a rennaisance man.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my deep faith in God and Jesus Christ. Havng studied this faith in great depth for many years and I have found it to be the most truthful church; a church that teaches all that which the Church of Jesus Christ has taught since Adam and Eve first walked the earth. I have a scientific mind that pushes me to seek answers . . . I believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the answers that explain why I am here on this beautiul and magnificant planet. It also teaches the firm belief that the family can be the center of happiness and the key to eternal progression. I know the Book of Mormon is a truthful and glorious book that teaches me more about the nature and eternal perspective of who Jesus Christ is and how he has made it possible for me to return to my Father in Heaven. I love its teachings that bear witness of Jesus Christ and provides guidance on how one can enjoy happiness in this life. I love the Bible as well and cherish the teachings it provides to me and my family. Being a dsciple of Jesus Christ allows me to keep my feet firmly secured to the ground when the winds of the world tug at me and try to carry me off. I love the eternal plan of happiness that has been revealed to our prophets in this day and time. To know I was a spirit child of God before I came to earth means a great deal to me. To understand that the time I spend here on earth is just an experience that will help me to attain greater glory inspires me to be a good man and provides me with hope for the future as I battle through lifes challenges. To know that I can be with my family for all time brings me joy and happiness. Life has meaning and is explained when we seek out eternal truth. Being a Mormon helps me know who my Savior is and how much he cares and loves me. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best I can be to those around me. I try to serve others as well as I can. I have a firm belief that faith and charity is the answer to many of the worlds ailments. As a college professor I have had many wonderful opportunities to assist youth and young men and women attain their dreams. As an employee I work hard to be a good man and a good representative of my company, trying never to bring shame to my name or company. I try hard to be a good husband and father. I adore my wife and respect her more than any other I know. I have a deep love for my children and try to inspire them to be the best they can be while helping them realize their great potentital as children of God. I have served as Mormon missionary in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I have also served as a ward and stake missionary four times. I have served as a counselor to a Bishop and also served on the Stake High Council for my church. I taught my first Sunday School class when I was eighteen. Since then I have served as a sunday school and primary teacher for the church in many wards. Presently, I serve as a gospel doctrine teacher in my ward. I love to teach the gospel. My thirteen year old son and I home teach seven families. We especially enjoy home teaching our dear elderly widows. I have been a young mens leader and advisor, and as a youth served in several leadership callings for my church. I have been associated with the Boy Scouts program since I was twelve years old and have served as a Boy Scout leader and merit badge counselor for over 25 years.
