Hi I'm Rebecca

I sing, I read, I write, I play the piano, and I'm a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student majoring in Communications and minoring in Spanish. I've always enjoyed being a student, but I am miserable at math! I was a theater kid in high school and so I love singing and acting. I'm a vegetarian. I love to watch movies and read books. I can pretty much quote all of the Princess Bride. I like to hike, raft, and go tubing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, but I had my doubts when I was young. I doubted that there was a God and that He cared much about my insignificant life. But I went to a summer camp that they have for the young girls (Girls Camp) one year and I looked at the beauty around me and felt like this could only have been created by a perfect being. So I knew there was a God. Then I wasn't sure if such a supreme being could love me. So, I prayed about that. And I felt a rush of love that I wish I could explain in words. But unfortunately I can't. Why am I a Mormon? Because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I've read it. I've felt it. I know it. I went to a summer camp for youth (EFY- especially for youth) and where I was there I came to know for myself that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God. I have studied the Bible and I've found that everything just makes sense! If you study the doctrines of the Bible and of the Book of Mormon and pray, then you will find out that this is Christ's church restored on the earth. It has brought me such peace and comfort in my life. Much more peace and comfort than I had during those times that I doubted. God continues to speak to us and miracles happen every day! That's why I'm a Mormon. Because I've found the happiness that the gospel brings!

How I live my faith

I get to pick the songs that we sing in church, which is fun. Sometimes I play the piano in the different meetings. I find that music is an excellent way to worship. I'm also currently serving a mission! I am absolutely loving it! I can't imagine a better way to live my faith than by not being ashamed of it and sharing it.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Nope! I'm on a mission right now and I am certainly not required to be here! I mean, we hope that people will choose to serve a mission because it's an awesome experience and you grow so much, but ultimately it's up to the individual. Show more Show less
