Hi I'm Madeline

I am a creative, I live in London and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Scotland with my mum and dad and my three younger sisters. I was encouraged to develop talents. I was a champion highland dancer and would probably have been a much better pianist had I not rebelled when it came to practicing. After school and a short year studying anthropology at university I decided to train to be a makeup artist. After graduating I moved to London. From the age of 11 I knew I would live here. I didn't have any connections in the makeup industry so after a few months of praying and asking for inspiration on what to do it dawned on me to train to be a hairdresser. I went to the salon of the most famous hairdresser I knew at the time and I got a job! I had amazing training, was able to travel the world with the company which lead me on to being a freelance hair and makeup artist. I have worked in fashion, film, tv and commercials. I am now on the journey of opening a salon of my own. I love being in London. I feel inspired being here. A perfect day would be to cycle to see an exciting exhibition then finding a new or favourite place to go to eat.

Why I am a Mormon

My immediate and extended family have all been great examples of how living their lives in a way pleasing to God creates ways to develop a deep sense of being and hones character. I grew up learning I was a daughter of God, learning about where I came from, why I am here, and where I will go. I was taught the commandments and ways to keep them and how to make good decisions. I was taught to pray and to read and study scripture. By living what I was taught, and making mistakes a long the way I have come to know that what this church teaches is truth. It makes sense to me on a spiritual, physical, emotional and logical level. I feel peace, contentment, love and happiness when I try to live my life in accordance to God's laws.

How I live my faith

I have the wonderful opportunity and privilege to work with the children in church. This year we are learning about how we are children of God, about how much He loves us and how He has a plan for us. We learn through song, play, discussion and self expression. Working with the kids is a blessing. They are pure, humble and teachable with sassy little personalities. They know who God is and they know He loves them. They know Jesus Christ is their brother and friend. They love their families and friends and they strive to make good decisions in their lives. They are a great example to me. In my community I try to be a good neighbour and friend. This is important to me and not many things give more of a buzz than when you are able to smile and say hello to the people you pass on your street. Everyone is a son or daughter of God. I try to remember that.
