Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a daughter, a sister, a wife. I'm a life-long learner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, sing, bike, and swim. I also teach piano, take care of my husband, and tend other people's children. I am in college, and my major is Family Studies. I am interested in Autism and plan to go to graduate school and learn more about parent-child interactions that facilitate social development of children with autism. I believe that every person has so much potential, but not everyone has the ability to unlock theirs in our current society. I want to change that.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. First, I feel at peace when I pray about the truthfulness of the teachings of this church. Second, everything makes sense to me. The more I learn, the more puzzle pieces I can fit together. I love knowing that my family can be with me forever, and I take comfort in knowing that my Savior atoned for me so that I have the opportunity to be forgiven of my sins.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to treat everyone around me like they are sons or daughters of God. I try to use the talents I have been given to bless the lives of others. I have taught the youth in the church as well as played the piano for worship services. I give where I can, even if I can only give love.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Our life is much more than our mortal experience here on earth. Before we came here, we lived in heaven with our Heavenly Father. Like all fathers, he wanted us to have everything he has including his knowledge, wisdom, and experience. As part of His plan for our happiness, we would have to come to earth and gain a body, forget our premortal experiences, and face temptations and trials. Our purpose here on earth is to receive a physical body, learn to chose between good and evil through temptations, learn and grow from our trials and experiences, and form families that have the potential of being eternal. We want to follow our Heavenly Father's plan so that we can not only live with Him, but we can become more like Him. Show more Show less
