Hi I'm Austin

Cedar City, Utah is home. I love playing the piano and guitar, sports, the outdoors, and hanging out with my friends.

About Me

I was born into an awesome family whom I love very much. We have had some awesome times together and I love being with them. In high school, I played football, ran track, played in the school band as well as a band my friends and I put together for battle of the bands, sang with the choir, was involved in honor society, and was involved in the skillsUSA program. My passion is music. I play the piano, trumpet, and guitar. Music is my way to express myself. I write my own compositions for the piano and love doing it. Playing music helps me to escape the world and relieve all the stress and troubles that are going on all around me. I also love being in the mountains. I go on backpacking trips with my dad, grandpa, and brother every summer. There is something about being in the mountains that you can't get any other way. You are able to escape from the world and be alone where it's just you and those closest to you emersed in God's beautiful creations. I am currently serving as an LDS missionary in Colorado. When I return from my mission, I plan on attending BYU and pursuing a career in math or music, getting married, and raising a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so I have always grown up believing in the teachings of the church. However, there came a point where I couldn't continue to rely solely upon the testimony of my parents and church leaders. I had to find out for myself. So I studied. I prayed. My testimony didn't come all at once. It was a gradual process that happened slowly over time. There wasn't just a sudden awakening and realization to the truthfulness of this Gospel, but a compilation of events, feelings, and experiences in my life that became the foundation of my knowledge of Christ's Church. The feelings I've experienced are unexpainable. But there is no denying that those feelings came from God through the gift of the Holy Ghost. The knowledge I have gained has brought me more happiness and joy than anything else in my life. That joy comes from knowing that Jesus Christ suffered for my sins so that I can return to live with Him and my family forever in the kingdom of our Heavenly Father. That suffering, as we call it the Atonement of Jesus Christ, has helped me through so much in my life. There are times that I have felt alone, that I have felt that no one else knows what I'm going through. I take great comfort in the knowledge that Christ does know what I am goin through. He is there to help me. He wants to help me. All I have to do is come to Him. He has carried me through my trials. He has washed my sins away as I have repented of them, which brings more peace and comfort than I believe can be experienced any other way. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. His Church has been once again restored to the earth throught the prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. There is a prophet to lead and guide us today. God hears and answers our prayers. He and His Son, Jesus Christ, want what is best for us, and I know I can, along with those I love, live with them again in a state of never ending joy.

How I live my faith

This church is more than just a Sunday event. It is a lifestyle. It is a lifetime of trying to become who God wants us to become. Everything I do is centered around Jesus Christ and His Gospel. I am constantly trying to better myself and become more like Him. That is what this life is all about; we are to become like Christ. To become like Christ, we must become do what He did, which means putting others above ourselves and losing ourselves in service for the Lord and those around us. I have served in the church in a variety of ways, including leadership positions in quorums and callings to help out with music. I am currently serving a full time mission. I have devoted two years of my life, leaving family, friends, and hobbies behind, to serving the Lord by declaring the grand message of His restored Gospel. It is a great responsibility that brings many challenges as well of some of the greatest blessings one can experience. To serve the Lord brings happiness and joy that can come no other way, and though it can be very trying and difficult at times, there is nowhere else I would rather be.
