Hi I'm Kent Fellows

I am from Alabama. I just finished my Freshman year at BYU. I'm a sprinter on the swim team. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up, I moved around quite a bit as my father was in the military. When I was in sixth grade, our family settled down in Alabama. I have a loving father and mother, and two amazing older sisters. Both sisters are married and each recently gave birth to their first child. As a six year old, I first joined a local summer swim team and fell in love with the sport. I I continued to train through my childhood and teenage years, and ultimately made it on to the BYU swim team as a sprinter. I am nineteen years old now and just recently completed my Freshman year of school there. I plan on continuing my education after college by attending medical school, and ultimately becoming a surgeon. I enjoy eating tasty food, traveling, learning new languages, fishing, boating, camping with my hammock, skiing, playing sports, fake-sneezing, clapping with my feet, and spending time with friends and family. Most people see me as a laid-back guy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. As a young child, I was taught the basics of the gospel by my parents. I vividly remember it just making sense to me. As I've grown older, I have learned to search the holy scriptures to find correct answers to any question that I've had. There have been times in my life that I have made mistakes, and my faith has been shaken. The most helpful thing for me is knowing that the Lord loves me. He expects us to slip up from time to time. Through the gospel, I have come to know that the reason why we are on the earth is to learn and grow as individuals from these mistakes. I know that there is a prophet on the earth today that leads and guides us in a path of righteousness, just like in olden times. This knowledge assures me that the true gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth after many years of spiritual confusion. I am a Mormon because I know that it is the only true church on the earth today. It contains the fullness of the gospel, and inspires me to be a better individual every day.

How I live my faith

I always try to go through life with a smile on my face. When I see others having a difficult time, my first instinct is to try to make them laugh by telling a joke. Most times that doesn't work and they just laugh at me out of pity from my pathetic jokes, but it usually opens up a good conversation. I know when life gets hard for me, it is nice to have a person to talk to, so I try to be that person for others. I have been blessed with opportunities to serve those around me in numerous different leadership positions in high school, sports, and church. These leadership positions gave me the chance to lead others by example. I don't drink, do drugs, or curse; at times, that isolated me from "the popular crowd", but that's okay with me. My hope is that through setting an example, I have been able to help others come closer to Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Kent Fellows
No. We believe in God the Eternal Father and in His son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We worship and adore them accordingly. We believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith as he offered a sincere prayer to know the truth. Because of his faith, he was called as a prophet in these days to guide the church of Jesus Christ on the earth. We respect Joseph Smith as we do any other prophet (i.e. Moses, Abraham, and Noah).
