Hi I'm Kalee

I grew up in California. I'm a junior in college studying math education and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and I grew up in sunny California. I live on a vineyard and I love the sunshine. If I had my choice, I would be outside all the time. I love to run, play soccer (as well as any other sport), swim, go to bonfires, hike, camp, work in the yard, garden, scuba dive and travel. There are very few outdoor activities that I don't enjoy. But I also love to read and spend time with my friends just talking. I have a very deep desire to better myself when it comes to dance. I have danced my whole life and there is something so special about expressing yourself through a beautifully choreographed piece. I try to be where my feet are. Instead of always thinking about what else I could be doing, I try to enjoy the moment and serve others who are with me right now.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I read the Book of Mormon and when I pray and attend church, I feel at peace. I feel like when I do those things, I have a broader sense about what is really important in my life. The small things that often stress me out and worry me seem insignificant when I attend church. As long as I am doing my best to keep the commandments and be more like Christ, everything will work out. Knowing that if I do my best everything will work out makes dealing with life's hardships much easier. So basically, I am a Mormon because it brings me peace.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week and I try my best to read my scriptures every day. I also try to have family scripture study and family prayer daily. Right now, on Sundays, I teach the 16-18 year-old girls. Teaching them has been such a joy in my life. I spend a whole week learning about the subject I have been asked to teach, and then when Sunday comes, I get to talk with these wonderful young women about what I have learned that week. We learn together. That has been the most rewarding part about all of it; learning with them. I don't lecture, we all learn together. I also live my faith by speaking kindly about others and trying to love everyone around me, even if I have been offended by someone. We are all God's children and we all deserve to be loved and respected.

Are Mormons Christians?

That depends on what you believe a "Christian" is. To me a "Christian" is someone who believes in and worships Christ. Jesus Christ is the head of our church and we do worship Him. I believe in Jesus Christ; I believe that he lived and died for each and every one of us so that we can return to our Father in Heaven someday. I know He is my Savior and that He knows and loves me.
