Hi I'm Liesl

I'm from Michigan and love my family. I love adventures like living in Germany, enlisting in the Army & volunteering in Japan.

About Me

I love my family and friends. I recently married the love of my life in the new Provo Temple. I love spending time with my husband. We like to cook food, go on hikes, watch shows, and work on homework together. I play the piano moderately well, and like to sing. I recently started learning the violin. I also like going on walks and hiking. I have lived in two foreign countries and have briefly served in the US military. I am grateful for all the people in my life and the adventures that God has given me.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Lord and I know without a doubt that this is His church. I know that I have been helped and blessed by God because I have chosen to follow the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My parents have set a wonderful example of faith for me. I testify that God is our Heavenly Father and He has a plan for each of His children. He did not set any of us up to fail. I continue to be a member of this church because I know it is good, I know it is true and I have seen with my own eyes the lasting happiness to be had by following Christ's example. I have felt the feelings described by Alma who was a missionary and prophet. He taught people about faith in Alma 32:28 "Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out ... behold, it will begin to swell within you... and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves--It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me." I continue to be a Mormon because this life-style enlightens my understanding and enlarges my soul and enriches my life. I sincerely testify that this is His church. The Book of Mormon and the Bible are God's word. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet on the earth today. We are God's children and He loves us more than we can fathom. Jesus Christ is the living Savior of all mankind. He suffered for our sins and died for us. He overcame death and rose again. He lives. He knows how to fill our every need and He knows our true potential--to become like our Heavenly Father and Mother. I so testify in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently a student at Brigham Young University. I'm studying German and Computer Science. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to learn and to become a better person every day. I like attending church on Sundays. My husband and I recently moved so I'm eager to make new friends. I love to keep in touch with dear friends in Japan who I had the privilege of meeting on a 18 month church mission (2013-2014).

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The President of the Church is also known as "the Prophet". He receives direct guidance from God about how to take care of His children and how to lead the church. President Monson has two counselors and twelve apostles supporting him, who are also called of God to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ to the whole world. I am so grateful that God still speaks to us through these chosen men. He loves us so much that even though He is not currently living on the earth, He wants to give us guidance like He guided those who lived in His day. I have learned for myself that these men are called of God. They also have a sense of humor :) Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

The answer to this question is a resounding YES. This whole life really is all about family. God is our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ is His Son, our Savior. We are all children of God. God sent us to Earth to be families to each other, literally and figuratively. The joy we can feel in family life is something that is not only temporary. The joy that a husband and wife can feel when they trust in God and love each other sincerely is one of the greatest joys. Jesus Christ gave the power to bind family relationships together to His disciples, when He was on the earth. This power is real and lasts beyond death of the mortal body. Our spirits live on as a part of a family unit. Those who accept and pledge to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ can be sealed to their parents, spouse, and children through sacred ordinances performed in God's temples. Show more Show less
