Hi I'm Austin Kawika Sagario

I love life, my family, and rugby. I'm a convert now serving a two-year mission in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon!!!

About Me

Hi, my name is Austin. I was born in Ft. Wainwright, Alaska and grew up in Hawaii and Idaho. My favorite sport is Rugby and I used to play for a three-high school union. My position was No. 6 Flanker. I am a convert to the Church. Now, I am serving a mission in the Philippines! Inga po at mahal kita!

Why I am a Mormon

My dad is from Hawaii and my mom from Idaho. When I was ten we moved from Hawaii to Idaho. When I was about fifteen my parents were separated and at age seventeen finally divorced. After the divorce, my mom neglected us during our visits with her to stay with and spend time with her boyfriend. My mother would lie to us to stir my brothers and I against our dad and had succeeded. For three months during Summer break I had no contact with my father because of the anger that was kindled inside of me. The previous years in high school I had failed terribly. I began to fear whether or not I would graduate on time so I began to speak with my dad who valued education more than my mother had at the time. Eventually I moved in with them. My dad has been Catholic since he was a child and my step-mom wanted to give us something more to believe in and something to rely on during trials. She became an LDS member in 1996. She wasn't an active member at the time but had an idea that we would go to both the Catholic Church and the Mormon Church. My dad, abiding by the "Ladies First" rule decided we would go to the Mormon Church first. We never left, and we never attended the Catholic Church meetings after going to the LDS Church for the first time. I remember, as a child, going to the Catholic Church with my best friend in Hawaii. Yet, there was something about the LDS Church but I didn't know what. After going to youth activities and gaining friends and meeting with the missionaries, I realized that there had been a seed planted after reading Alma 32:28 with the missionaries. After about a year of being unsure and wanting to find out for myself I developed my own testimony, and after much prayer had been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ just as he was baptized by someone holding the restored Priesthood authority. I love this Church and it has brought me so much happiness and hope. I have hope that I can return home to that God that has given us life. Know we love you.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith...? The times that I find I am at my greatest and experiencing profound happiness is when I help others. I enjoy helping friends and strangers alike with everyday problems; whether it be physically, mentally, or spiritually I do my best. On the same token, I help them find themselves and help them to realize what they are worth. This is what Jesus Christ did with so many others during His reign on Earth. This is what I experienced in my conversion through prayer. This is what I hope i can inspire others to do.
