Hi I'm Chris

I am a hard worker. I love my family very much. I am happy that I am a Mormon.

About Me

I went to college last semester, but decided to take a couple years off to go serve a mission. I enjoy watching and playing basket ball, football and ultimate frisbee.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I grew up in this church, but I made the decision to stay when I found out that this church was true and that through following it's teachings and coming to church I was becoming closer to God. A while ago, I didn't have this knowledge. Then one day I was feeling kind of depressed so I prayed and told God that I felt sad and lonely. I went to church shortly after and someone quoted this scripture. "And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up." (Doctrine and Covenants 84:88) I had never been hit by a scripture so hard. I felt a burning feeling in my chest and tears welled up in my eyes. It all hit me at once. I knew that God loved me and that He has cared for me from the beginning and protected me in times of danger and times of hardship. I saw His hand in all things and I knew that all that He wants from me is to return to live with Him again, just like any father would. This knowledge is why I am the way I am. It impacts my everyday choices. I know that God loves me and and I want to show that I love him too by the way that I act.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the New York, Utica Mission. This gospel has helped my exponentially in my life and I feel responsible to share what I know so that I can help people in their lives.

Are Mormons Christians?

Christ is the basis of our religion, so to the question "are Mormons Christians?" I would have to say absolutely 100% yes. I was once told by a member of a different church that all that we believed of Christ is that He is Satan's brother, whereas to other religions he is their Savior and Redeemer. It kind of saddened me to think that other religions would think such a thing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, but I testify that I know that he is our Savior and Redeemer and because of his Atonement, I can be saved. If you flip to any page of the Book of Mormon, you can find Christ, whether it be his teachings, or his name is used. So yes, Mormons absolutely are Christians. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Christ gave us the example of missionary work. He served the people with all his heart and loved unconditionally. We are strongly encouraged as priesthood holders to follow in that example. When we partake in this blessing of being able to devote 2 years of our lives to the service of the lord, we become better people than we ever could be without. Nevertheless, it is up to us whether we are go and serve others in the mission field or stay home. Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

The simple answer is through baptism (the B word). When we learn about Jesus Christ and how we can become closer to him, we know that in order to follow him and become like him, we must follow his example and be baptized by someone holding the priesthood. Baptism is essential to Heavenly Father's plan and it is only through baptism that we can live with him again. Baptized members of the church have the gift of the holy ghost. Have you ever felt that peaceful feeling that comes after you do something good for someone else? We can have that feeling all of the time and having the Holy Ghost with us all of the time gives us that feeling. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Ever since the beginning, Christ has built his church on the backs of men that hold the priesthood. Christ worked many miracles through the priesthood when he was on the earth and that power to work those miracles is the priesthood or the authority and power to act in God's name. God has given us this authority so that we can bless the lives of others. Women have a calling outside of the priesthood that is of equal importance and that calling is the calling of motherhood. If Adam was without Eve, or if Eve didn't, in her wisdom, convince him to eat of the fruit, we would not exist and God's plan for us would be ultimately uprooted. It would be impossible to fulfill the commandment to "multiply and replenish the earth" without women. Women do have an important role in our church. They are given callings and have important responsibilities in the church. Show more Show less
