Hi I'm Addie

I am a studying college student. I really enjoy making and admiring art. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a lot of different hobbies, all of which I am not an expert at, but nonetheless I really enjoy spending time on. I enjoy playing the guitar, ukulele and piano. I enjoy carving little foam animals and throwing pottery on a wheel. I enjoy spending time with my great friends and drinking Root Beer or lemonade. I am a college student studying to be an art major with an emphasis in ceramics. I love my family and since moving out and going to college I have found that I especially miss eating my mom's homemade meals.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who was very active in this church. I was raised to live the standards of this gospel. However, that isn't why I continue to be a member of this church. I continue to live this gospel because of my own personal conversion. At one point in my life I was going through a very hard time. I felt as though the burdens I had been carrying on my shoulders for weeks, were finally too heavy to lift. That night as I fell to the ground, sure I could no longer keep trudging through life and school, I found myself praying sincerely to God. Crying, I told him of my struggles, and finally I pleaded with him to take the burdens from me, to help me carry what I couldn't lift anymore. As I cried to my Lord for help, I felt his spirit surround me and suddenly my shoulders felt lighter. He hadn't taken away all of my problems but he had given me the help I needed to carry the burdens. After that night I had no doubt of the power of the atonement. I had never felt more loved and cared for. I know my Heavenly Father and my Saviour, Jesus Christ love me. I know this with all my heart and my mind. I live this gospel so that I may follow Christ and help others feel that same love I felt. I know that this church is true. I know that Heavenly Father lives and loves me and he loves you. I know that Jesus Christ died for my sins and for yours. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of god and through him, Heavenly Father was able to restore his gospel to this Earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is evidence of the Lords hand in our lives know. It is truly the word of God.

How I live my faith

Living as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is something grew up in and I have found everything good in my life through my faith in Christ. I know that as the perfect example, Our Savior was always serving those around him. I have tried to focus my life around that example. In this church we have so many opportunities to serve, one of which is going abroad and spending a year and a half to two years as a full-time missionary. I have taken this opportunity and I am really enjoying meeting and reaching out to the people of Orlando, Florida. I am not perfect and my Heavenly Father doesn't expect me to be, but I am trying to be better each day! and as I try I truly find an eternal happiness.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Woman don't hold the Priesthood because the Lord has a larger picture than we do. I truly believe that although the woman can't hold the priesthood we still play a large roll in this church. We have a lot of influence on those around us. Heavenly Father has given us very special and sacred duties on this earth that are just as important as holding the priesthood. One of these duties is motherhood. Another is simply serving and looking out for others as a member of the Relief Society. These are just a couple of things and there are many many more.
