Hi I'm Connor Holt

I wish I could say I had a crazy life, but I am just your average guy, I like girls, I like to party, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello there, my name is Connor! Here is an opportunity to learn a little bit about me. I am 21 years old, and I love just being me. I am just your average male living in the Utah. I was recently voted in to be the Executive Vice President at the college I am attending. I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the country of Chile. I have been a Mormon for my entire life. I do not do it, because my parents have made me do it, but I do it because I know that it is true. Something that comes very easily to me is talking to people, I love to be able to just talk with people, if someone new comes up to me and starts talking, I love to get to know them. I love to talk about my faith and beliefs with people as well. I am not going to go out and force it upon people, but any chance that I have to discuss it, I will take it. If you want to know more, ask me anything.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Well, honestly I used to just say "I was born in the church, and my parents and family just make me go." Although this is not the case anymore. In the Spring of 2010, my brother was serving his mission in the beautiful country of Thailand. In this time I was lucky to receive a handwritten letter from him. (I know right? Who writes handwritten letters anymore these days?) In this letter he asked me "Connor, do you know if The Book of Mormon is true?" and I was kinda shocked by the question. I thought to myself "Do I know? I mean, everyone has always told me it's true. My parents, my siblings, my friends, but really, is it true?" So the next thing I read in his letter is, "if you don't I am going to tell you what I tell my investigators here in Thailand. I tell them to do 3 simple things. To first Pray and thank the Lord for the chance to read this wonderful book, because not everyone has it, and then to ask for the Holy Spirit to be present while you are reading. Second, to read the Book. It doesn't matter if you want to read 1 verse, or 100 chapters, its how much you feel you need to read. Third, you need to finish with a prayer, once again thanking the Father for the chance to read this book, and then finishing with asking him if it is true. If you will do this, I promise you will feel the Spirit of the Lord." So I thought once again to myself, "well, I am reading it right now, so I might as well try it." So that night, I was sitting in my room, and I started with a room, and read (Don't remember how much), and then I finished with a prayer, and when I got to the part that I had the chance to ask my Heavenly Father, if the Book of Mormon was true, I received the most Wonderful Feeling in the world, and I knew without a doubt, that this book is true. Since this experience I have had many more wonderful experiences with the Church and this feeling and receiving it just so much!! I Love the the feelings from the Holy Spirit! :)

How I live my faith

Ever since I have returned from my mission, I have been attending a Young Single Adult ward, or otherwards known as a YSA ward. This ward is so much fun!! We have so many activities for all of us! Every Monday we get together and have activities as a ward. Right now, because it is Spring, we have a Softball team that we play other YSA wards. Wednesday we have missionary activities and help the missionaries here in our area. Thursdays we have temple activities. Then on Sunday, we have the opportunity we come back to church to have three meetings, the first is a meeting where all the men meet/women meet. Then we have a class called "Sunday School" Where we learn about the Scriptures (Old Testament, New Testament, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price). Then we all meet together for the last meeting called "Sacrament Meeting" Where we get to have the chance to renew our Baptismal Covenants and hear members of the ward who have prepared talks during the week and sometimes special musical numbers that have been prepared. I have the chance in my ward to be a home teacher, where I get to pass by the houses of 3 members with another man. We pass by their house to see how they are doing, to give them a small spiritual message, and then to see if there is anything that we can do, to serve them. (This is something I learned to LOVE so much on my mission).

What is the Book of Mormon?

Connor Holt
The Book of Mormon is exactly what it says on the cover of the Book, "Another testament of Jesus Christ." It testifies that Jesus really is the Christ. People think that it is the "Mormon Bible." Although that is not the case, because we believe in the Old and New testament, the King James version. One of my most favorite scriptures that I shared with so many people down in Chile from The Book of Mormon, can be found in the book of Alma (one of the books in The Book of Mormon) Alma 7:11-12 it stats; 11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. 12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities. Jesus really is the Christ, and he Atoned for all of us, and he Loves us just so much. He is our Savior, and the Book of Mormon is another testament of him, to be a second witness that he did these things, and that he Loves us, and that through his Atonement we can one day return to live with our Dear Father in Heaven once again.
