Hi I'm Kiet Tran

I was born in West Valley City, UT. I was baptized at the age of 15. I'm a Mormon and Jesus Christ is my Savior!

About Me

My mom and dad both arrived to the United States when they were both six years of age. My mom arrived from Cambodia. My dad arrived from Vietnam. They met each other in high school and had me at the age of 20 (dad) and 18 (mom). I am currently a college student athlete, playing lacrosse! I love my family and will do anything for them. As the first Priesthood holder ever in my family, I realize that it is through my example of following our Savior, Jesus Christ, that my family can truly be together for eternity! I have a sister that is one year older than me and a little brother that is 6 years old. My sister and I are currently the only members in our family and are the first to ever join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ and that He loves everyone and wants the best for them, that is way he paid the ultimate sacrifice by dying for everyone's sins so that we can be saved as long as we follow and have faith in Him! I was baptized when I was fifteen years old. I have never been more sure of anything in my life, no matter what diversity or struggle that I may face in my life. Because this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ, I continue to have guidance in any decision that I make through thoughtful prayer and heartfelt scripture study. Because of Jesus Christ, I have been able to experience the miracle of changing my life around from a dangerous path which has brought me a happiness that is everlasting!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I have read all of the promises in the Book of Mormon and every promise that Heavenly Father's prophets and Jesus Christ has promised me has been true for me. The strongest promise that I have received was Moroni 10:3-5. It was to read the Book of Mormon and to pray with real intent to know whether it was true and I have never felt a stronger realization of the comfort, love, and truth in my life. I know that Heavenly Father keeps his promises and that Jesus Christ lives and wants the best for us. We have the fullness of His gospel on the Earth today and if you sincerely ask Heavenly Father if this is true, He will answer! I make that promise to anyone and everyone.

How I live my faith

I am a part of a YSA ward in Provo, UT. Everybody in this community is so great and is always willing to help each other out. I play lacrosse for BYU and because of that, we travel to other states a lot. We get to see other LDS communities and something that I never cease to see is the charity of other members. They genuinely care about everyone and try to help anyone that they can, even people that they don't know (us on the lacrosse team). We give a lot of firesides (where we give talks and share our testimonies about Jesus Christ) to youth, seminaries, (high school religion classes about our faith), or to anyone in the local area that we play at. I have seen so many miracles happen through serving others. I currently have my mission call to Cambodia, Phnom Penh and preparing for my mission through studying this gospel through the Book of Mormon, helping and serving others, and going to the Temple has brought me an everlasting happiness that I know can never be destroyed as long as I stay faithful to following Jesus Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Kiet Tran
No. Not all Mormons are required to serve a mission. It is entirely up to the person that becomes of age and qualifies to serve a mission. I am choosing to serve a mission because I know that Jesus Christ lives and nothing makes me happier than following Him! Through knowing this, I also know that serving others and helping them feel this greater happiness will bring me more happiness than I know and that I will grow more than I ever could be devoting two years to helping and serving others as a representative of Jesus Christ. Although demanding, I wouldn't want to miss serving Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father with the companionship of the Holy Ghost for the world. :) Show more Show less
