Hi I'm Holly

I grew up in the church, married in the temple, got divorced, and am a single mommy going back to school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always known the church is true. When I have the Lord, I can be strong. When I was growing up, there were Sundays that I was the only one who went to church. It was hard, but I knew I had to do it. It's true. Besides religion, school and family are important to me in my life. I was married in the temple and even work in the temple when I first got married. My husband and I got divorced in 2007. After healing, I am now living with my daughter putting myself through school. I will graduate this June as an educator. Through the trying times, the things that would get me through were the basic church practices of reading scriptures, praying with all my heart (as a family and by myself), writing in my journal, and having Family Home Evening. Just like in the Parable of the Ten Virgins, it is important to have extra "oil" or strength to make it through life, and be ready to meet the Savior again.

Why I am a Mormon

I know it's true. I know that the scriptures are true. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today. What else matters?

How I live my faith

I am new to this ward, but have already made several friends at church. I teach the Sunbeams (3 year olds) at church. One of my greatest joys is meeting with new and old friends and talking about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have friends from school that are of different faiths, but we all believe in Jesus Christ, have much in common; and something important to contribute to the conversation. You can never learn enough about Jesus Christ. When I got baptized I made the promise to represent Jesus Christ and stand for what I believe in. I will try to do that clear throughout my life. It was a promise...and one I made to Jesus Christ.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a record kept on the American continent by prophets of old. It came about because a Prophet-Historian named Mormon compiled the history of his people by revelation, and through the records kept over the centuries by his people. Mormon's son, Moroni, who had become a resurrected being, told the boy-prophet Joseph Smith where it was and gave him charge concerning them. Show more Show less
