Hi I'm Calvin Garrett

I was raised in a small town in Idaho. I'm working on becoming a Computer Scientist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently on my Mission. It has been the greatest thing I have ever done. I love seeing how the gospel can bless other peoples lives. I love seeing it change me. Some of my hobbies are reading, hiking and camping, beekeeping, and I love everything about computers. I will be going into computer science to become a software engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a LDS family. As I grew older, I started to fall away from the church. I would still go, but I wouldn't follow the teachings like I should have. I finally started to have a sincere desire to follow the gospel right before I went off to college. I let the Atonement of Jesus Christ change me and I am now serving a full time mission. This Church has brought so much joy into my life. It helps me through my trials and look to the positive side in them. I do know this church is true. I know that God loves us and He wants us to come back to him. Through Christ's Atonement, we can become pure and be saved at the last day. He really can help us overcome our trials. It is such a great feeling to look back and see that God has helped you become completely new person. Let the Atonement change you. I know that God talks to us through the prophet. We need to listen to what he says.

How I live my faith

I serve others whenever I can. I also try to teach others about this Church. This Gosple brings so much joy in my life and I want everyone else to experience this joy. I try to follow the commandments in all the things that I do. It isn't always easy, but the Lord does truly help and bless us. I pray and study the scriptures as often as I can.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Calvin Garrett
A testimony, to me, is what the Holy Ghost has let me know that they are true. He lets me know this through fillings of confort, joy, and peace. Here is some of my testimony. I know that this church is true. I know that God loves all of us and That Jesus Christ is his son. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that, through prayer, you can know that it is true. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that he did translate the Book of Mormon. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet today. I know that he recives revelation, from God, for this church. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Calvin Garrett
The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ. It goes hand in hand with the Bible. It contains the writings of the ancient prophets that were in the Americas. Because God loves his children, he called prophets among these people and the Book of Mormon is an abrigment of there teachings. They taught all the doctorin of Christ. The book is named after one of those Prophets because he compiled most of the Book of Mormon under the guidence of God. The Book of Mormon Testifies of Christ. After Jesus Christ was reserected, he appeared to the people in the Book of Mormon. This book testifies of Christ's Atonement and His love for all of us. The Book of Mormon also answers some questions that the Bible doesn't. The Book of Mormon ends with a great promise. If you read the Book of Mormon and sincerely pray to know if it is the word of God, the Holy Ghost will testify to you that it is true. (Moroni 10:4) As you read the Book of Mormon, pay attention to the things you are feeling. Show more Show less
