Hi I'm Kayla J. George

I'm a Special Education Public School Teacher. I'm a single mom and I love to craft and bike ride. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Special Education Public School Teacher. I teach 9-12th Grade SPED History. I have taught 1st-5th grade SPED Math, 6th-8th grade SPED Math and SPED Science, 4-6th grade SPED Math and Life Skills. I love to volunteer my time as a coach for Special Olympics. I have two grown children. My son, which has learning disabilities, still lives at home with me. I love to be creative and craft on my spare time. I enjoy bike riding and am currently training for a Century (100 mile) Bike Ride.

Why I am a Mormon

I have read the Book of Mormon several times. Each time I am amazed how much truth that I find. The Book of Mormon is NOT the Bible. It does not replace the Bible. In fact, we read the King James Bible right along with our Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It teaches how the Native Americans really came to the Americas (No speculations). It shows that even the Native Americans had the ancient scriptures and got to know Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is not to replace or out-do the Bible. The Book of Mormon enhances and elaborates the stories and lessons found in the Bible. I'm so glad to have the stories in both Books. In these Latter-Days the words of the ancient prophets truly come in handy!!! That brings us to the current days. I'm satisfied to know that Heavenly Father does not change. Just as in the past, we have a living prophet today. You can know that the prophet is speaking the truth by his fruits (Matthew 7:15-20). I personally do not believe these verses would be in the Bible if we weren't supposed to look for true prophets. If there were no true prophets then the Bible would have told us there would be no prophets in the Latter-days and for us not to listen to anyone claiming to be a prophet. The more I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon the more I come to know just how TRUE they both are. We are definitely Children of our most High God, Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

In the past, I have worked with the children in our church (AKA Primary), I have taught the teen girls (AKA Young Women), and I have taught the women (AKA Relief Society), too. I now teach the teen-age girls and boys Sunday School. I enjoy the youth the most. I love their curiosity and energy. There is never a dull moment. We are currently learning a new curriculum, Come, Follow Me. The lessons are teaching us how to read the scriptures and how to relate them to our lives. They teach us how to study, learn, pray, and ponder. The lessons teach us how to listen to the Holy Spirit and serve. The weekly lessons encourage us to live the way Jesus did. I also Visit Teach with a Relief Society partner (another female member of our church). I enjoy visiting the assigned sisters on our list. Monthly, we go to their house, bring a brief lesson, visit, and often bring a small gift. Visit Teaching is a rewarding experience that let's us practice the way Jesus lived. We get to know each other, help one another, and serve. It's a way to check on each of the members to let them know we really care and to make sure they have all of their needs met.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Kayla J. George
A testimony to me is knowing that I know. It's knowing something without a doubt even when you can't explain how you know it. For example, I know each morning the sun will rise even though I can't explain all the why's. Yes, I can say I know it's because of how the earth rotates but I don't know why it rotates. So, with this said. I can say I KNOW there is a Heavenly Father and He loves each and everyone of us just as I love my children. He wants us to know Him, to call upon Him, and to love and respect Him just as I want my children to do the same towards me. I KNOW that Joseph Smith found the Book of Mormon and that it has wonderful history that was written for us during these days to help us with our daily life challenges. I KNOW that no man or group of men could have written these beautiful stories. There are too many prophesies in them that no mortal man could have known without them being revealed. I KNOW that Jesus is my Savior. He gave his life for me. He knows me personally and loves me. He wants us to share our love with each other just as he taught in the scriptures. I KNOW that we still have prophets today. Thomas S. Monson is the current prophet and I can KNOW this by his fruits. (Matthew 7:15-20) I KNOW The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints practices the way Christ would want His church ran today. The Church has the full gospel, the priesthood, and the organizations needed to spread the Gospel. Show more Show less
