Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Idaho. I now live in Colorado. I am a homemaker and mother. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a mother. I love to go to the park with my son. I enjoy playing with him. I am a wife and homemaker as well. Seeing my husband after his long day at school and work is wonderful to me. I love to read the scriptures. My hobbies include being outdoors, reading a good book, creating crafts that my son can play with, and just being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized as a member of the church at age 8. I have grown up in the church. Simply put, I am a Mormon because, I have chosen to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I had the opportunity to be sealed for time and all eternity to my husband in the temple of the Lord. This church is all about families. We all have a Heavenly Father who knows us personally. He understands exactly what we are going through. Jesus Christ suffered all of our trials that we have in this life. He took upon himself all the pain, sorrow, sickness, and death through the atonement. He made it possible for us to live again. He made it possible for families to be together forever. This is Heavenly Father's plan, for us all to come back to him! I am member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I can have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. I can pray to him to find out answers for myself. I know that I am never truly alone in this life, for our Heavenly Father has not abandoned us, he is THERE! I know that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father. I know that he is there for me personally! He is real! I am grateful to have direction in my life. Not only can I receive my own revelation, the Lord has given us prophets and apostles, just like when Jesus Christ was on the earth. They lead and guide his church today, under the direction of our Heavenly Father. We can always get our own answer and pray and ask the Lord if these things are true. Direction also comes from the scriptures from ancient and modern prophets. I am grateful for this. It is like having a map or gps when driving. I know that the scriptures are true. I know that we have a prophet of God on the earth today. I know that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are true. How do I know this? It is because I have prayed about them and it has been witnessed to my mind and heart that these things are true. There is a God, he knows us, and he has provided a way back to him!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by showing those that I come in contact with the joy that I feel from my testimony of Jesus Christ. This is the joy that comes from living the gospel of Jesus. I am given the opportunity to get to know and serve other women in the ward through monthly visits. I find out what they need and try to help them meet their needs. These visits are called "visiting teaching." I get know and love these women that I visit. My husband and I also live our faith in our own home by teaching our son the principles of the gospel. We pray together as a family. We read the scriptures together as a family. We have discussions on Christ. We want to be like him in every way possible. My husband and I each have personal prayer and we are trying to teach our son to rely on his Heavenly Father through prayer. We also have a weekly lesson called family home evening in which we teach our family gospel principles in a fun way. We attend our Sunday meetings and try to live what is taught. We also go to the temple-- a place where families can last forever. We are not perfect at anything. I am reminded of the words of a children's hymn. " I’m trying to be like Jesus I’m following in his ways. I’m trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say. At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice, But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers, “Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought For these are the things Jesus taught.” I’m trying to love my neighbor I’m learning to serve my friends. I watch for the day of gladness when Jesus will come again. I try to remember the lessons he taught. Then the Holy Spirit enters into my thoughts, saying: “Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought, For these are the things Jesus taught.” I am trying every day to be like our Savior, Jesus Christ. That is how I live my faith.
