Hi I'm James Ogden

I'm a missionary for the church in Bakersfield California, I'm a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Music is my life. Every part of who I am, what I do, and what I believe can be tied to music. I also love to snowboard. Growing up in Utah, it was always there and available, but I never got into it or took advantage of it until i moved to Wisconsin in 2008. There, not only did my passion for music and snowboarding explode, but so did my testimony. I went through a lot of personal trials and gained a strong testimony of the atonement of Jesus Christ. I also grew such an incredible appreciation for that atonement, that I wanted to share that love with others. I wanted them to feel the cleansing power of it, and God's love for all of us. That is why I decided to come on a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of this church. I struggled with my own testimony and faith in Christ from the beginning. It wasn't until just a few years ago that I really knew of God's love and his plan for me. From there, I did what I could to learn more about it. Since then, it has blessed me in many incredible ways. I have been very successful in my life so far, in doing the things that I have set out to do. (Work, school, relationships.) And I know that I will continue to be blessed if I live by this gospel and the teachings of Christ.

How I live my faith

I work for 2 years as a missionary. The things I do range from preaching the Gospel, to helping people around the house. My full attention, 24/7 for 2 full years, is toward Heavenly Father and his children. When I am at home, I do my best to serve the people around me. I write music that inspires people and helps them discover who they are. Through my music I try to help people gain a sense of identity, and help them to express that identity once they have found it.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

James Ogden
Families are so important to us because we belive that we can be with them forever. And that litterally means, FOREVER! We teach so much about the family and how important it is, becuase family is the most important unit of people in the world. Without familes, people would feel alone, people wouldn't have others to turn to for problems. It is central to God's plan for us. You hear members of the church call eachother brother or sister all the time. We do this because we are all litterally God's children, therfore brothers and sisters, and therfore one big family!
