Hi I'm Shaley

I grew up in Utah. I love long distance running and classical music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served an lds mission in the Philippines. I just changed my major in college to Biomedical Engineering. I love long distance running and music. I play the violin and the piano. I have three brothers, one sister, and two loving parents.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormons, so I grew up going to church. I didn't really take it seriously though. In junior high my parents sort of pushed me into a seminary class. I felt like the class was important, and it was fun until it conflicted with something else I wanted to do (swim team). My parents told me I could do what I wanted. I think I sincerely prayed for the first time in my life. I had decided I would not do the swim team, but I really needed the comfort of knowing I had done the right thing. The next day in seminary the teacher went off subject for maybe a minute. I remember him saying that the purpose of life is not to gain popularity, get riches, or to play sports but to see that we do all that God asks us to do. I knew at that moment that my prayer had been answered, and I immediately felt the comfort that I needed. That was just the first step in my conversion. Since then my faith has only grown. I absolutely know that prayers are answered. They may not be answered in the way that I want, but they are always answered in the way that I need. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and is watching out for me. I know that this is the true church. It was restored to the Earth by the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that God sends us prophets today to lead and guide us. I know that the atonement is real. I know that if I ever fall, I can get back up again; I can repent. I know that God has given individuals in this church power to act in his name through the priesthood. I know that the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and words of the living prophets are truly the words of God, and they have been sent here to lead me in my life. I absolutely know each thing I listed to be true. I would not say it without experience in it. This gospel has changed my life. It has changed the way I live, and I never want to live without it.

How I live my faith

I just got back from serving as an lds missionary, and I loved every second of it. In church, I teach the 14-15 year olds in Sunday School. I try to be understanding and a friend to those around me. I like to be involved in the community and take part in any sort of fundraiser that is going on. In school, I want to study something that can really help people, and I feel like I am doing that. I try to be the best me possible so I can share that with the people that I love.
