Hi I'm Michelle Dastrup

Student at Utah State University. Utah native/California adopted. Lover of the Pacific. Truth Seeker. Christ Believer.

About Me

My Name is Michelle. Everybody calls me Meesh. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. When I was 5 days old my family was sealed in the SLC Temple. I grew up in partly in St. George and partly in Logan. I am currently still in Logan at Utah State University, Go Aggies! My dad grew up in San Diego California where his other family members still reside. We travel there a couple times a year and consider it my second home. I am studying pre-med and hope to attend my dream school - the Medex program at the University of Washington in Seattle. I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I believe that we are all children of the same God who loves us each and knows us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a truth seeker. I love finding truths in the world around me when we live in a world full of untruths, half-truths, and disappointments. I know that the gospel is true. I have felt it, I have lived it, and I love it. I believe that you can pray to our Heavenly Father to find truths. Pray to know. While my life is fast paced and changing, the gospel doctrines and Gods love for me are never changing. I believe in Jesus Christ and know that he is my Savior, my comforter, and my advocate. I love Him, I love my Father in Heaven, I know that their love is eternal, un-changing, and perfect. For that I am thankful.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is the perfect example, and I can live my faith best when I remember Him in all that I do. I have been taught and found that consistent righteous living is the best way to live my faith. As I attend all three meetings, fulfill my calling, and attend other church activities I am strengthened. I'm thankful for the values I have been taught through the church. Those standards keep me grounded and give me direction.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Michelle Dastrup
In the church you will often hear faith being compared to a seed. If you plant a seed and nourish it, and if it is a good seed it will grow. We can nourish our faith by doing things that the Lord has asked us to do and by keeping the commandments of God. By doing this, our faith will grow. The biggest thing that has helped my faith in Jesus Christ to grow lately is reading my Book of Mormon. I love the Book of Mormon. It testifies of Jesus Christ and teaches us more about Him and His gospel. This year I have been trying to read my Book of Mormon and Bible simultaneously. The more I read about the Savior, the closer I feel to Him. The spirit is more present in my life as I try to apply His teachings. My love for Him has grown, and my faith has been strengthened. What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Michelle Dastrup
In the church, worthy men are able to hold the Priesthood, which is the power of God on earth. The priesthood can be used to help bring us closer to our Heavenly Father. For example, the priesthood is used to baptize, bless, and make covenants in the temple. Only men hold the priesthood because that is their role in Heavenly Fathers plan. A woman's divine role is motherhood. Here is an answer that helped me understand the importance and significance of the different roles of Men and Women on earth; We believe we lived with God as spirits in heaven before we came to earth to gain a body. A woman can create life within her body as she carries a child for 9 months. Her role is to bring our spirits from heaven to earth and to give that child a body. We believe that on earth we will be tested, and we must live our lives righteously so that we can return to live with God again. Just as a woman's job was to bring our spirits to earth, a mans job is to help us return to heaven. A man can do this by using the priesthood to baptize and help us make covenants that are necessary for us to return to Heavenly Father. These roles are of equal importance. A man cannot create a body, but a woman cannot conceive without a man. And although a woman cannot hold the priesthood, a man is not worthy of the highest degree of priesthood without a woman. This can also help explain the importance of marriage between a man and a woman, and families. Show more Show less
