Hi I'm Josie

I'm a college student who loves spending time with my family. I'm the oldest of four siblings, a lover of music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have loved being involved in many different organizations at my college. I'm currently a member of the track team, which allows me to push myself physically and mentally. I'm studying psychology, and I hope to someday start my own counseling business. Specifically I want to do marriage and family therapy because I love listening to and helping people, and I believe that the family is so important. Being the oldest in my family has helped me learn to be a leader and example to those around me. I love to sing, play the piano and guitar, crochet, make dream-catchers, bake with Nutella, wake-board, hunt, and ride motorcycles. I enjoy reading, especially self-improvement books because the new ideas and positive thoughts inspire me to become a little better each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the peace and true joy that the gospel brings. I find that the more I study my scriptures and try to do what's right, the happier I am. Though I've had some hard times in my life, it's such a blessing to know that everything will be alright in the end. The church gives me such a great support system, and allows me to learn and grow every single day. There are times when I become overwhelmed, or when life just seems too hard, but when I turn to God during those times I end up learning from the experience and becoming more like Him. Looking forward to attending institute is what gets me through each day. Being able to study the scriptures and receive personal revelation gives me the strength I need to endure the challenges of life. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church, and that it's the only thing that can bring true happiness.

How I live my faith

I have been the ward organist, on the service committee, the planning committee, and a visiting teacher. Each calling has helped me grow in a different way. Playing the organ was scary for me, but it helped me learn to trust in God. I loved being able to put together a toy-building service activity to make wooden cars for needy children. My favorite things has been visiting teaching because I'm able to make new friends and learn so much from each person I talk to. I'm also involved on campus in the Colleges Against Cancer club. As a part of this I've been able to be involved in the Relay for Life event, which is an all day fundraising event to help fight cancer. I look forward to going home and visiting my family occasionally on the weekends. While home we make sure to have family home evening so that I can participate in it. I find that by doing the little things, and by trying to serve a little each day, I'm able to come closer to God.
