Hi I'm William Carver

I grew up in Texas. I'm living in England. I love playing soccer and ping-pong. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for my church in Southern England. Before I was a missionary I was going to University at BYU Provo. At university I have been studying calculus, economics, and chemistry. Some of my hobbies include playing soccer, ping-pong, cooking, and reading fantasy books. I love the outdoors and spending time with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. Both of my parents had served missions for my Church in Germany and I have been taught its values and teachings since I was young. However as I grew older I began to question and wonder as to how one can be sure of the message that this Church proclaims. Its a bold statement to say this is Jesus Christ's only true and living Church on the earth today. So many people around me proclaimed the truthfulness of this message without a doubt. Yet I doubted and questioned. How could one be sure? As I looked for answers I went to the one source I knew that truth came from, my Heavenly Father. Through much prayer and study I was able to come to the knowledge that this is the Lord's Church. I didn't have a vision to proclaim this truth to me. I have never seen an angel. But I have felt the power of the Holy Ghost witness to me that I have a Father in Heaven who is aware of me and loves me more than I can even understand. I have had a witness that this church is indeed His church and that this is where God has given us all of His truth. This hasn't made life suddenly easy. I still struggle and have my ups and downs like any other person. But the peace and joy that the gospel has bought into my life is undeniable. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. That through the atonement of Jesus Christ I can be saved and forgiven of my sins. That my Savior lived and died for me and lives again. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving as a full-time missionary for my church in Southern London. As a missionary I seek to serve others and help God's children in any way possible. Most importantly I try to help those around me come to an understanding of who Jesus Christ is what He has done for them. As a missionary I have the opportunity to teach and testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ and the changing power He can have in their lives. I actively serve and help out members of the ward in which I am serving as well as members of the community who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Prior to being a missionary I was actively involved in my ward at University. I served their as part of the presidency of the organization for college aged men in the Church. Service is a huge blessing in the church and helps all the members be fellowshipped and find joy in being a member.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

William Carver
One of the greatest blessings of the church today is having a living prophet. I believe without a doubt that we have a living prophet who leads and guides this church, his name is Thomas S. Monson. Throughout the history of the world God has called prophets to lead and guide His children. I know God loves us just as much as He loved His children then. Through His prophet, God helps us to know His will. He sends us guidance and direction through a prophet just like He did in Bible times. I have always felt so blessed to have a prophet who can help us to know the council of God in today's age. In the Bible they of course didn't have internet, cars, and other things that are in the world today. A living prophet can help us to receive guidance on all the things that we see in today's society. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

William Carver
Having the authority to act in God's name is one of the most important parts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The authority to act in God's name, or the priesthood, is used in all aspects of the church and its functions including preforming ordinances and running the church. Without His authority we could not preform these ordinances neccesary for our salvation. Heavenly Father is a God of order and His church would therfore be one of order. Anyone can go and say they have the right to baptize or give someone the gift of the Holy Ghost, but unless God has given him that authority to do so it will not be any force on this earth or of any benefit. God has restored this authority to the earth when He restored His church to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. Its through His priesthood authority that we can receive all of the blessings and promises that our Father in Heaven wants for us. And it is through this authority that we can be baptized in Christ's name. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

William Carver
Coming to know my Father in Heaven is something very important to me and has been a big part of my life. When I was young I often saw God as someone far away and distant. Someone who I couldn't understand and was too busy to know me in a personal way. As I have grown and learned more about God and my relationship with him I have seen that He loves me and knows me as an individual The ways in which I have come to know Him are things you hear about all the time, prayer being the most important. Prayer is how we communicate with our Father in Heaven and it is how we can come to gain a personal realtionship with Him. Just as we need to talk to our friends and family in order to stay in touch with them and have a strong relationship with them its the same when it comes to our Heavenly Father. The more I pray and talk with Him the more real He becomes in my life and the more I feel His loving and guiding influence. Along with prayer, studying the scriptures and listening to the words of His living prophets helps us to know our Heavenly Father. As we learn from the inspired words and leaders He has given us, we must then act on it and we will see how He is truly there and how He is in the details of our lives. Show more Show less
