Hi I'm Zachariah Mitchell

I grew up in Scotland. I love music and books. I'm a Mormon

About Me

There are two things I love in life; music and books. I really enjoy listening to and playing music. I am an aspiring musician, I enjoy playing my guitars in my little spare time and I am also currently teaching myself piano when I can. I also want to learn to play many other instruments. I love reading books as well, as I do have a wild imagination so reading just lets that run free.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but in my teenage years I had to make the decision for myself whether this was the course I wanted to pursue in life. So when I was about 13 years of age, I decided I would read the Book of Mormon by myself for the first time. I read it from cover to cover and prayed to know if what I was reading was true. From that point, and even now, every time I read the Book of Mormon I know that it truly is the word of God and that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

Currently I am a missionary for the church in the south of England area. I love it as every day I get to share with others how I truly feel about God and Jesus Christ and get to teach them more about our beliefs. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary as there are so many people out in the world that are searching for the truth and they just don't know where to find it.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Zachariah Mitchell
The Book of Mormon is another book of scripture which contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, much like the Bible does. It is proof, that God is still there, and that He loves and cares about us. It proves that He isn't just going to speak to people back in Jesus' day, and leave us to fend for ourselves. The Scriptures teach that God is an unchangeable God and no respecter of persons, therefore why would He only speak to the people in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus Christ, and not to us today? The Book of Mormon is a record of some of the ancient inhabitants of the american continent, where the people lived and worshipped God. It is a record of their prophecies about Jesus Christ and his life. The main event in the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ, after his death and resurrection, appears to these people and teaches them the gospel that he preached in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon is therefore more words of Christ, which in my opinion you can never get enough words of Jesus Christ, and it is also proof that God still loves us, and speaks to us today through his Prophets. The Book of Mormon is true, and proves that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's true church on the earth once more. The Book of Mormon contains a promise, those who read it and pray to know with faith, a sincere heart and real intent if it is true, will receive a witness of its divinity. I know this as I have done this myself. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Zachariah Mitchell
The Book of Mormon is a record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. Like the Old testament, it was written by prophets, or men called of God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to lead and guide the people. The wrote about and testified of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and recorded their revelations and dealings with God.These experiences were recorded on metal plates which were, after some time, abridged or summarized and compiled onto gold plates by a prophet-historian called Mormon. This is where the name "The Book of Mormon" comes from, it was all put together by Mormon. Through inspiration, he included the parts of the earlier prophets' writings that were important for our day and age and to help us understand God's eternal plan for us, and the mission of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and is proof that God is still a God of miracles and is still heavily involved in the world today. Many people try to discredit the Book of Mormon and claim that Joseph Smith made it up. After understanding the life of Joseph Smith and as an aspiring author I know this is not the case. It is not possible for anyone to write such a book with the lack of education, knowledge and research that Joseph Smith had. He had no research, and there was very little knowledge of the ancient Americans at that time. Even 183 years after first being published, not a single person has been able to disprove the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Zachariah Mitchell
The reason we have 12 Apostles today comes from the knowledge of the organisation of the church which Jesus Christ established when He was on the earth. Surely, if Jesus Christ was the only perfect being to grace this earth with his presence as all Christians claim he is, the it makes sense that the organisation that he established is also perfect and is therefore a pattern to be followed. As we can see from the New Testament, in Acts chapter 1, we read that after the death of Judas, there were only 11 Apostles. These 11 Apostles gathered together and chose another man, Matthias, to take Judas' place "That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship." Later from the New Testament, we also learn that Paul was called to become an Apostle. From this we can see that it is important for there to be 12 Apostles. As we read in Ephesians chapter 4, verses 11-14, we see that Christ gave some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God." As the world is not yet all united into one faith, we believe that Apostles, Prophets and other authorities are still needed today. Show more Show less
