Hi I'm Clay Kettlewell

I grew up near Kansas City. I'm currently serving a mission in Colorado Springs, waiting for a visa to Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

About Me

You can call me a musician. I love playing instruments of all kinds, and have ever since I was a kid. I play piano, trombone, guitar, and harmonica, just to name a few. I also love reading and writing and doing jigsaw puzzles. I like playing video games and board games, and just hanging out with friends and having a great time. I went to college for Engineering for approximately a year, but then decided to work and save up money for a 2-year mission. I'm currently loving Colorado Springs, but waiting for my visa for Brazil, which was my original mission call. I will continue schooling when I get back.

Why I am a Mormon

Families. A happy family is the reason that I am a Mormon. In our society, it seems so rare to find this almost-forgotten ideal. But when I first became converted to this church, it was after I found happy Mormon families, and I knew that it was because they lived what they were learning in church. I hope one day to have this, also, and I know that without the gospel it is nearly impossible. Happy families are built on love, and love comes from Jesus Christ and following the things which he taught. I am also a Mormon because of the redeeming power of the Atonement. When you repent, your sins are cleared away and forgotten. I do not feel perfect, but I feel cleaner than I ever have been, and I continue to improve myself each day through repentance so that I may continue to feel this way! It is a magnificent feeling.

How I live my faith

I live my faith first and foremost by reading the scriptures each day. It is essential, as it keeps my mind focused on those things which are most important. In my congregation, I play the organ every week for sacrament meeting. It is a joy I have that God has given me this talent to play beautiful music, and that I am able to share it with others each week. As a hometeacher, my companion and I strive to make sure that the five or six people assigned to us have all their needs met. We meet them once a month in this effort and give them a short lesson in their home, and encourage them to continue improving themselves. At my job (Fed-Ex,) I did my best to be a light to others. I tried to replace negativity with more positive things. I sometimes discussed my religion with others, but mainly I just tried to show others how it's possible to have a good attitude at work. I am currently serving a mission, and sharing with others the light that I have found in my own life. I do my best to help all around me as I share this light with them.
